Pakistan Test Squad: A two-Test series will be played between Pakistan and West Indies in January. Both the teams are out of the final of the World Test Championship and are at the last position in the points table. In such a situation, this test series is just a formality. Now Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the test squad for this test series. Earlier, the Pakistani team had toured South Africa, where it lost the series 0-2. For this reason, there have been 7 changes in the squad against West Indies.
Sam Ayub did not get a chance due to injury
Only 8 players of the Pakistani team that went on South Africa tour have been retained. These include Shan Masood (captain), Saud Shakeel (vice-captain), Babar Azam, Kamran Ghulam, Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Rizwan, Noman Ali and Salman Ali Aga. Sam Ayub has not been kept due to injury. PCB wants him to be fully fit before the Champions Trophy 2025. Abdulla Shafiq, who is struggling with poor form, has also not got a chance.
Imam ul Haq is back
Sajid Khan and Abrar Ahmed have returned to strengthen the spin department for the Test series against West Indies. Both these players had performed brilliantly against England on home soil and single-handedly led the Pakistani team to win the Test series. Opener batsman Imamal Ul Haq has returned. He played the last test match for the Pakistani team in the year 2023. After a long time, there is a possibility of him making a place in the playing eleven. He has scored 1568 runs in 24 test matches for the Pakistani team.
The first test match will be held from January 17.
On the other hand, the fast bowling quartet of Aamir Jamal, Mohammad Abbas, Mir Hamza and Naseem Shah has been given rest. Mohammad Ali has been recalled in his place. Whereas Khurram Shahzad has got a place in the team. The first Test between Pakistan and West Indies will be played from 17-21 January and the second Test from 25-29 January. Both the tests will be played in Multan grounds.
