Unemployment is a big issue, demand for land for farming The people of the colony are happy with getting citizenship, but unemployment is a big issue. People do work like labor or selling mobile accessories. Apart from this, the issue of permanent residence is also important.
The residents demand that the government should provide land on lease on the banks of Yamuna so that they can live a respectable life.
One such resident Nanaki said – I do not want a house or free things. Hopefully the government will give us land on lease so that we can work and earn. If we earn, we can build a house ourselves.
New notification of CAA was issued in August, 2024
In August this year, the Central Government had issued clarification on the documents required for citizenship under CAA. Under this law, to obtain citizenship, it is necessary to present documents which prove that the applicant’s parents, grandparents, or great-grandparents were residents of Pakistan, Afghanistan or Bangladesh.
However, it was not decided what kind of documents would be required for its proof. In the new notification, it was made clear that any order issued by the Central Government, State Government or any judicial body like land records, judicial order etc. will be valid for this.
The central government had implemented CAA across the country on March 11, 2024. Under CAA, there is a provision to give citizenship to non-Muslim refugees who came from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan before 31 December 2014. Under CAA, for the first time in May this year, 14 people were given Indian citizenship.
3 big things about Citizenship Amendment Act…
1. Who gets citizenship: People from Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi and Christian communities who came to India after being persecuted on religious grounds from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh before December 31, 2014, can be given citizenship. Only people from these three countries can apply for citizenship.
2. Impact on Indian citizens: CAA has nothing to do with Indian citizens. Indians have the right to citizenship under the Constitution. CAA or any law cannot take it away.
3. How to Apply: Application for citizenship under CAA has to be made online. The applicant has to tell when he came to India. You can apply even if you do not have a passport or other travel documents. Under this, the period of stay in India has been kept more than 5 years. The period for acquiring citizenship other than this law is more than 11 years.
