Lahore: A Pakistani lawyer has sent a defamation notice of Rs 50 crore to a Pakistani military officer for calling Indian independence hero Sardar Bhagat Singh a terrorist. The president of a Lahore-based non-profit organization on Wednesday asked a retired Pakistani army officer to tender an unconditional apology for terming legendary freedom fighter Bhagat Singh a “criminal”. He has also sent a legal notice to the officer demanding compensation of Rs 50 crore.
This legal notice has been sent to Tariq Majeed, Chief Public Relations Officer of Lahore Metropolitan Corporation and a retired officer from Pakistan Armed Forces, through advocate Khalid Jama Khan. Majeed has accused Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation Pakistan Chairman Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi of taking foreign grants and called the great freedom fighter Bhagat Singh a “criminal”. “My client (Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation Pakistan Chairman Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi) is a patriot and honest towards the country and Islam,” the notice said. And he is living his life as per his capacity and has not taken even a single penny from any person or group in Pakistan or abroad.

In the notice sent to the Pakistani military officer, the lawyer has said that the aim of his client (Qureshi) is to fight for the betterment of the common man and bring Pakistan and India closer.
