Actually, NRI was accused of contempt of court. He did not follow the order to hand over the custody of his 10 -year -old child to his ex -wife. The child’s custody was part of the agreement between them to end all disputes after divorce.

The NRI did not appear in the court in the hearing of contempt proceedings on 22 January, but senior advocate Vikas Singh, who was representing it, assured the court that he would appear on the next date of hearing. He did not appear on the next date on 29 January.
Lawyer Vikas Singh told the court that he had gone to America. Expressing surprise, the bench of Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia and Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra issued a non-bailable warrant against him.
The bench said that we instruct the Ministry of Home Affairs to take all possible steps under the law to arrest the defendant, so that it can be brought to the dock of justice. The lawsuit first started in Michigan, USA, where the couple divorced in 2017 after 11 years of marriage. His ex -wife also started several proceedings against him in India, but in October 2019, there was an agreement between the parties before the Supreme Court. According to which he will give the child’s custody to the ex -wife. But NRI did not follow it and contempt proceedings were initiated against him.
The Supreme Court had admitted in September last year that a preliminary contempt case is made against him. The bench said that it has been deliberately violating the court order for the last five years.
