People around the world are affected by dry eye syndrome or dry eye problem. In this disease, people’s eyesight decreases. There was no permanent treatment for such patients till now. But the doctors of AIIMS have now made this possible. Actually, with aging, the retinal pigment in the eyes dries up, which reduces the light. Such patients will now be able to be treated with stem cells. According to AMS doctors, the lights can return after 15 minutes of dry retinal patients.
Retina Incharge Doctor Rajpal at AIIMS’s RP Center said that Dry Eye syndrome has not yet had any special medical treatment. But for the first time in India, treatment is being done through stem cell, the results of which have been seen much better.
How to treat dry eye syndrome?
Dr. Rajpal said that for the first time a stem cell has been injected in India, which is all -inised. This is in the name of Eye Stem Sale. This entire procedure is 15 to 20 minutes. It is injected retinal and then it is seen what effect it has. He said that it is injected at the same place where there is deficiency of stem cell. The advantage of this is that there they become cell rejections. In 2 to 3 months, the patient’s eyesight becomes much better than before.
Two patients were treated for dry eye problems
Dr. Rajpal told NDTV that till now we have treated two patients. Right now patients are admitted and treated. This is the entire day care system. He said that AIIMS is the first place where its clinical trial is going on. LV Prasad and third place are Ganpat Netralaya for the trial, but their trial completion will take a year or two.
Where is the stem cell coming from?
Dr. Rajpal said that the entire experiment is going on on the country system. This stem cell is coming from Bengaluru in AIIMS Delhi. He said that it is currently being generated in Bengaluru.
Bio synthetic cornea becomes a boon
At the same time, bio -synthetic cornea is also being worked in AIIMS to overcome the deficiency of cornea. Dr. Namrata Sharma of RP Center at AIIMS said that so far 70 patients have been installed synthetic cornea. He said that we have Swedish collaboraters, this cornea is made of collagine in her research lab.
How does a synthetic cornea work?
Dr. Namrata Sharma said that she has imposed in the Cartoconous case, in which the cornea becomes very thin. His currency also changes. It has revealed very good results. This increases corneal thickness. This also keeps the cornea clear and the patient’s eye is also improved.
Target to create a complete cornea
Dr. Namrata Sharma said that the research so far is on the Parseline Cornea. Now efforts are being made to make a complete cornea. He told that the cornea has a total of 6 layers. So far, four layers have been made. We have not yet been able to make the endothillial cell, which is responsible for the transparency of the cornea. That is why an attempt is being made to grow endothyliel cells on the latest cornea, a complete cornea can be made.
