PM Modi on Saturday distributed 65 lakh owned property cards in 10 states and 2 union territories. PM Modi, who joined the program virtually, said – Today is important for the economy of the villages. This scheme was started 5 years ago, so that the people living in the village could be given legal proof of their house.
Modi said- Property rights have been a challenge in the 21st century. Many years ago the United Nations conducted a study on land property in many countries. It was revealed that in many countries of the world, people do not have solid property documents. UN had said that if poverty is to be reduced then it is necessary for people to have property rights.
Under this scheme, we have given permanent legal documents of their houses to about 2.25 crore people of villages. Earlier, despite the people in the village having property worth lakhs of crores, it was not valued that much. Because they did not have legal documents. Now the way has been opened for economic activities worth more than Rs 100 lakh crore.
Actually, Modi participated in this event virtually, while 13 Union Ministers took charge on the field. Chief Ministers of many states, Union Ministers, Ministers of respective states and Panchayat representatives also participated virtually.
5 things from Modi’s speech…
- Despite the people in the village having property worth lakhs of crores, it was not worth that much. Because they did not have legal documents. There used to be disputes regarding the ownership of the house. The bullies used to capture them. Without legal documents even banks used to shy away. This continued for decades.
- When our government was formed in 2014, we decided to deal with this issue, no government could leave the people of its villages in trouble like this. That’s why we started this scheme. We decided that with the help of drones, mapping of land will be done in every village of the country. Papers of their residential property will be given.
- There are more than 6 lakh villages in our country, survey has been done with drones in half the villages. After getting the legal documents, he started a small business by taking a loan against his house property. Dalit backward tribal families were the most troubled due to long disputes in the court and illegal occupations. They have got relief from this crisis due to legal proof.
- After making the property card, the way for economic activities worth more than Rs 100 lakh crore will be opened. Through this, land has also been given a special identity. About 23 crore Bhu Aadhaar numbers have been issued. This makes it easy to know which plot belongs to whom. In 8 years, about 98 percent land records have been digitized.
- For so many decades after independence, crores of people in our villages were deprived of these basic facilities. The families of the tribal community were the most troubled. In the year 2000 when Atal ji was PM. Then a PM Gram Sadak Yojana was started. From then till today 8.25 lakh km of roads have been built. In 10 years we have built 4.4 lakh km of roads.
- Now we are running a vibrant scheme to increase connectivity in marginal villages. In the last ten years, more than 2 lakh panchayats have been connected with broadband connections. Our government has created more than 5 lakh new common service centres. Rs 12 lakh crore has been given to provide cheap fertilizers to the farmers.
