US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti said on Sunday that due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Joe Biden, relations between America and India have reached new heights. Garcetti and his family met PM Modi on Sunday. Garcetti said the two leaders achieved record-breaking milestones in a variety of areas, including visas, trade, defense cooperation, space cooperation, student exchanges and investment.

US-India partnership became inevitable
Garcetti expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi and the people of India for their warm hospitality during his last visit to India. He stressed that the US-India partnership has become inevitable and will only grow stronger in the years to come. He said, “What seemed unimaginable a generation ago will seem inevitable a generation from now, thanks to the work of these leaders and the people of our nation. Thank you Prime Minister and all Indians for helping us co-write this chapter with you.” Doing it has been a joy for me every day.”

Participating in the inauguration ceremony of the US Consulate office in Bengaluru on Friday, Garcetti said that this is not a new presence of America in India, but it is expanding its presence.
He said, “We are not starting a new presence here. But we are expanding our presence in Karnataka, which is a commitment that the United States also makes to this great state and city of this wonderful nation. All our Thanks to the honorable dignitaries.”
Relations between America and India are historical
The US Ambassador also highlighted the rich history of US-India relations, which began in 1776, when the US opened its second Consulate in Kolkata, India. He said that the recent opening of the US Consulate office in Bengaluru marks the expansion of the US presence in India, and not a new beginning.
He said, “We’ve been talking about this for a very long time, right? We’re working together to make sure that this start plants a seed that will flourish for decades to come. You know, our relationship with India is not new, and very few Indians know that we had our second embassy in India in 1776, in Lyon, France. Opened the Consulate and then another Opened in Kolkata, which reflected the importance of India to a new American nation, since then we have built 5 posts, and now 7 if you count our commercial offices here and in Ahmedabad. America’s second largest mission, we are breaking records every year, record personnel, record students, record military exercises, record engagements from sea level to space.
