Prime Minister Narendra Modi has gifted many new railway projects to the country. He has inaugurated a new railway division in Jammu and Kashmir and a new railway terminal in Telangana and laid the foundation stone of a new railway terminal in Odisha. On this occasion, PM Modi has talked about the development in the railway sector.
PM Modi laid the foundation stone of a railway project worth hundreds of crores through video conferencing on Monday (January 6, 2025) and Inauguration Did. He inaugurated the new Jammu division created under Northern Railway. This inauguration took place before the arrival of the Jammu to Kashmir train.
Srinagar is connected to Jammu through rail. Trains will start running on it in a few days. Jammu division has been created for the smooth operation of railways in this region. Under this, there will be a total rail route of 742 kilometers. In Jammu division, the routes will be Pathankot-Jammu-Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla, Bhogpur Sirwal-Pathankot, Batala-Pathankot and Pathankot to Joginder Nagar.
Of these, the Udhampur to Baramulla rail route will be the most important because it will connect the valley with the plains. To connect this, the world’s highest railway bridge has been built on the Chenab river. Railways is currently conducting trials on this by running different trains.
On the inauguration of Jammu Division, PM Modi said, “Today, as the railway network is expanding, new headquarters and divisions are also being built accordingly. Jammu Division will benefit many cities of Jammu and Kashmir as well as Himachal Pradesh and Punjab. This will also provide convenience to the people of Leh-Ladakh.”
He said, “Our Jammu and Kashmir is making new records in rail infrastructure today. Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla railway line is being discussed in the entire country today. This project will better connect Jammu and Kashmir with other parts of India. Under this project, the work of Chenab Bridge, the world’s highest railway arch bridge, has been completed.
Apart from Jammu Railway Division, he also took charge of Charlapalli New Terminal Station in Telangana. Inauguration Did. It was built at a cost of ₹413 crore. It is in Medchal and Malkajgiri district. This will reduce the crowd at the railway terminals of other districts including Hyderabad.
PM Modi said on this, “The connection of this station with the Outer Ring Road will give impetus to development in the area. The station has facilities like modern platforms, lifts, escalators. Another special thing is that this station is being operated on solar energy. This new railway terminal will greatly reduce the pressure on the existing terminals of the city like Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Kachiguda.”
Also laid the foundation stone of the headquarters of Rayagada Railway Division in Odisha. He also talked about the ongoing railway project in Odisha. He said, “Today work is going on on many projects related to new railway tracks in Odisha. More than Rs 70 thousand crores are being invested on these. 7 Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals have been started in the state, which are giving a boost to trade and industries. Even today, the foundation stone of Rayagada Railway Division has been laid in Odisha, this will further strengthen the railway infrastructure of the state.
