NASA astronaut Sunita Williams and Buch Wilmore have returned to Earth in the early hours of Wednesday after being in space for nine months. The two astronauts went to space on 5 June 2024 in Boeing’s new Starlineer crew vehicle and had to return in a week itself. However, due to the malfunction in the vehicle, they had to remain in space. On return from space, Sunita Williams and Buch Wilmore are receiving congratulations from all over the world. Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi also congratulated both and wrote on X-“Welcome, #Crew9! Earth remembered you.”

Sunita’s relationship with India
Sunita Williams is an American citizen and astronaut of Indian origin. This was his third space flight. Sunita has so far spent a total of 608 days in space. Sunita was born on 19 September 1965 in Euclid, Ohio. His father Deepak Pandya belongs to Jhulasan in Mehsana district of Gujarat. Williams has set a record of the most walking in space by a woman.

Sunita Williams has come to India at least three times including 2007 and 2013. Sunita was also awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2008. Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote a letter to Sunita Williams and described her as the daughter of India. PM Modi invited Sunita to come to India.
