New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Friday inaugurate several development schemes, including 1,675 flats for slum dwellers (JJ clusters) and two urban redevelopment projects in the capital Delhi. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) gave this information in a statement on Thursday.

Will visit newly constructed flats in Ashok Vihar

The PMO said Modi will visit newly constructed flats for slum dwellers under the Jhuggi Jhopri Rehabilitation Project at Swabhiman Apartment in Delhi’s Ashok Vihar and hand over keys to the eligible beneficiaries and inaugurate 1,675 newly constructed flats.

This project is in line with the ‘Housing for All’ initiative

The PMO said that this project is in line with the Prime Minister’s ‘Housing for All’ initiative. The objective of the project is to provide a better and healthy residential environment equipped with adequate amenities to the residents of JJ clusters in Delhi.

Central government spends Rs 25 lakh on a flat

Rs 25 lakh is spent by the Central Government on the construction of a flat. Eligible beneficiaries pay less than seven percent of the total amount, which includes Rs 1.42 lakh as nominal contribution and Rs 30,000 for five years of maintenance.

These plans are being given concrete shape before the assembly elections.

These development plans are being materialized by the BJP led government at the Center at a time when assembly elections are to be held in the national capital in February this year. The main contest of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Delhi is with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has been in power since 2013. AAP is making every possible effort to retain its power.

PM Modi will inaugurate two new schemes

Modi will also inaugurate two urban redevelopment projects on Friday – the World Trade Center (WTC) in Naoroji Nagar and the General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Type-2 quarter in Sarojini Nagar. The statement said that the World Trade Center has given a new look to the area by converting more than 600 dilapidated quarters into state-of-the-art commercial towers. It also has approximately 34 lakh square feet of premium commercial space with advanced amenities.

Modern facilities in these projects

The project incorporates green building practices with provisions such as zero-discharge concept, solar power generation and rain water harvesting system. The GPRA Type-II quarters consist of 28 towers with over 2,500 residential units. These have modern facilities and also allow efficient use of space.

These things will be in the design of the project

The project’s design includes rain water harvesting systems, sewage and water treatment plants, and solar powered waste compactors that encourage environmentally conscious living. Modi will also inaugurate the integrated office complex of CBSE in Dwarka built at a cost of about Rs 300 crore. It includes offices, auditorium, advanced data center and comprehensive water management system.

PMO said this

The PMO said the eco-friendly building has been constructed in accordance with high environmental standards and has been designed as per the Platinum Rating standards of the Indian Green Building Council. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of three new projects worth more than Rs 600 crore in Delhi University. It consists of an academic block in the eastern campus at Surajmal Vihar in East Delhi and an academic block in the western campus in Dwarka.
