Kuwait City: PM Modi addressed the people of the Indian community in Kuwait at the “Hala Modi” program on Saturday. He first greeted the Indians and said that a mini India has emerged in front of me. PM Modi said that people from every region of India have come here. He said that after 43 years an Indian Prime Minister has come to Kuwait from India. You have brought the colors of India to Kuwait. You have mixed the spices of talent, technology and tradition in Kuwait. I have come here not just to meet you, but to celebrate your achievements.

PM Modi said that some time ago I met Indian workers here. The workers, doctors, nurses here are all contributing. Those of you who are teachers are building the next generation of Kuwait. The engineers are building the new infrastructure of Kuwait. Whenever I talk to the leadership of Kuwait, they praise you all a lot. The citizens of Kuwait also respect you a lot because of your hard work, honesty and efficiency.

Today India is at the forefront of the world in many matters. A huge credit for this also goes to all your hardworking friends. The countrymen also respect your contribution. Friends, the relationship between India and Kuwait is one of civilizations. It is of the ocean, of love, of trade and business. India and Kuwait, situated on two banks of the Arabian Sea, are connected not only by diplomacy but also by their hearts. Not only our present, our past also connects us. There was a time when pearls, dates and magnificent horses went to India from Kuwait. A lot of goods have been coming here from India also. Rice, tea, spices, clothes and wood from India used to come here.

India and Kuwait’s old trade relationship

Surat used to be the international market for Kuwait’s pearls. The ports of Gujarat bear witness to the old relations with Kuwait. Kuwaiti businessmen have published many books in Gujarati language. After Gujarat, Kuwaiti businessmen made their mark in other cities including Mumbai. Abdul Latif’s book was published in Mumbai. Many businessmen from Kuwait have opened their offices in places like Mumbai, Goa etc. Many families from Kuwait still live in Mohammad Ali Peeth in Mumbai. Sixty to 65 years ago, Indian rupees and paisa were in circulation in Kuwait. Here only rupees were accepted when buying something from a shop.

India was the first to recognize Kuwait

India was one of the first countries in the world to recognize Kuwait after its independence. The country and society with which so many memories and our present are connected. Coming there is very memorable for me. I am very grateful to the people of Kuwait and its government. I especially thank the ruler here. The relationship that culture and commerce had built in the past is today moving towards new heights in the new century. Today Kuwait is a major energy partner of India. The citizens of India and Kuwait have always helped each other in times of sorrow and crisis. During the Corona epidemic, both the countries helped each other at every level. Kuwait supplied liquid oxygen to India. I am satisfied that India also gave courage to Kuwait to fight this crisis by sending vaccine and medicated team.

India-Kuwait, partners in happiness and sorrow

In June this year, a heart-wrenching accident happened in Kuwait. Many Indians lost their lives in the fire that took place in Mangap. When I got this news, I was very worried, but the kind of cooperation that the Kuwait government provided at that time, only a brother can do. I will salute this spirit of Kuwait. There is a tradition of staying together in every happiness and sorrow. Our mutual understanding is the foundation of our relationship. The people of Kuwait are engaged in new construction. The people of India are also engaged in making India a developed country by 2047. Kuwait wants to become a dynamic economy through trade and innovation and India is also strengthening its economy. Both these goals are going to support each other. India has the skills, technology and manpower required for New Kuwait. From smart city to green technology, India is ready to provide support for Kuwait City. India’s youth can give new strength to the visit to Kuwait.

India is the country of youth

India is going to be the youngest country in the coming times. He has the potential to meet the youth skill demand of the world. Therefore, India is developing the skills of its youth. India has signed agreements related to employment and migration with two dozen countries. Apart from Gulf countries, countries like Japan, Mauritius, Italy are included. Many agreements are being made for the welfare of Indians working abroad. It is all mentioned on the migration portal as to who requires which skill and how much manpower. With the help of this portal, lakhs of Indians have come to Gulf countries. The aim is that the world should progress with India’s talent. Those who have gone out for work should always have convenience. You are going to benefit a lot in Kuwait. You have treasured Indianness in your heart. Who would be an Indian, who would not be proud of the success of Mars mission, who would not be happy with Chandrayaan’s landing on the Moon.

India is moving forward with a new mood

Today’s India is moving forward with a new mood. Today India is the 5th largest economy in the world. The third largest startup in the world is in India. India is the second largest mobile manufacturing country in the world. The length of optical fiber that India has laid in the last ten years is eight times more than the distance between the Earth and the Moon. India is one of the most digitally connected countries in the world. Every Indian is using digital systems in small villages. Now it is not a luxury in India, it has become an everyday necessity. In India, from drinking tea to digital payment for ration, food, fruits, vegetables and delivery is done in less time. People have DigiLocker to keep documents. There is a fast tag to save time at the toll booth. India is becoming digitally smart. This is just the beginning.

India of the future will show direction to the whole world

India of the future will be the growth engine of the world. India will be the world’s green energy hub, electronics hub, pharma and automobile hub. Will be a semiconductor hub. In the year 2023, the world celebrated International Millet Day. This has also been possible due to the efforts of India. India’s super foods are becoming the basis of healthy life.

India is an important link in global connectivity

PM Modi said that India is becoming a link of global connectivity. India-Europe Corridor was announced last year during the G-20 in India. This is important for the development of India and the world. I invite all of you to join the development of a developed India.
