Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Wildlife Rescue, Rehabilitation and Conservation Center ‘Vantara’ in Jamnagar during his three -day visit to Gujarat. During this, PM Modi also inspected different facilities of ‘Vantara’. He also inquired about various facilities in the largest animal rehabilitation centers. ‘Vantara’ has been designed to give shelter to more than 1.5 lakhs saved and endangered animals. It is currently home to over 2,000 species. The Prime Minister visited Wildlife Hospital in ‘Vantara’, where he was informed about many types of veterinary services including MRI, CT scan, ICU. The hospital also has several departments including wildlife anesthesia, cardiology, nephrology, endoscopy, dental and internal medicine.
It can be seen in a 7-minute 39 second video that PM Modi is seen playing and caressing with different species of lions, including Asian cubs, white lions cubs, Carakal cubs. Clouded leopard cubs, which are a rare and endangered species, were also seen in the video.
The white lion cub whose milk was fed by PM Modi was born in the center when his mother was rescued and brought to ‘Vanatara’. Carakal, once found in large numbers in India, is now becoming rare. In ‘Vantara’, Carakal is reared under the breeding program and kept in captivity for their protection, then left in the forest.
PM Modi also visited the MRI room of the hospital and also saw the MRI scan of an Asian lion. He also visited the Operation Theater, where a leopard was being treated, who was injured and rescued after hitting the car on the highway. The animals rescued in the center are kept in places that are similar to their natural habitat.
The Prime Minister also saw various dreaded animals closely and inquired about their facilities. He also saw Golden Tiger, 4 Snow Tiger rescued from Circus, White Lion and Snow Leopard. He also saw the chimpanzee in the open, played with Orangutan, which was previously placed in a crowded place. He also looked closely at the hungry horses and crocodiles. During this time, he also fed a walk between Zebra, giraffe and rhinoceros.
The Prime Minister was also briefly visited by the hydrotherapy pool, which is aimed at the treatment of elephants suffering from arthritis and foot problems. He also saw the functioning of the elephant hospital, which is the largest hospital in the world. He interacted with doctors, assistant employees and workers working as patron of various facilities at the center.
