On the tour of America in 2016, PM Modi met Sunita Williams, the picture is done during the same time.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written a letter to NASA’s Astronaut Sunita Williams and invited to come to India. The letter written on 1 March was sent by Mike Messimino, former NASA astronaut. It has been shared by Union Minister Jitendra Singh on X.
In the letter, PM Modi has written- After you return, we are eager to see you in India. It would be a pleasure for India to host one of their most magnificent daughters.
Williams reached the International Space Station (ISS) on 5 June 2024. Sunita is going to return to Earth on Wednesday after being in space for 9 months.

- PM wrote- Even though you are thousands of miles away, but you are close to our hearts. People of India are praying for your good health and success in your mission. 1.4 billion Indians have always been very proud of your achievements.
- Modi recalled the meeting with Williams and his late father Deepak Pandya during his visit to America in 2016. He wrote- You were mentioned in our conversation. I told him how proud of you and your work. After this conversation, I could not stop myself from writing a letter to you.
- Modi wrote- Your mother Boney Pandya will be eagerly waiting for you to return. I am sure Deepak Bhai’s blessings are also with you.
Cousin Rawal said- performing a yagna for Sunita’s safe comeback
In Ahmedabad, Sunita Williams’ cousin Dinesh Rawal expressed his happiness that he is the pride of the country. Rawal told in a conversation with the agency- All the family members, including his mother, brother and sister, are happy that she is coming back home. Our whole family is happy and is eagerly waiting for their return. We have started praying for their safe return and have gone to many temples, this is a big day for us, that is the pride of the country. We are performing a yajna for their safe return and will distribute sweets on their return.
Sunita left from ISS on March 18 after 9 months
Astronaut Sunita Williams and Buch Wilmore are returning to Earth after 9 months 13 days. He was accompanied by two Crew-9 and Astronaut Nick Hague and Alexander Gorbunov, who were present at the International Space Station, left from Space Station on March 18 today. Their vehicle will land on the banks of Florida at around 3:27 am on March 19.
Sunita’s vehicle separated from space station at 10:35 am
Sunita Two more Astronaut Nick Hegs and Alexander Gorbunov of Crew-9 present at the International Space Station with Williams and Buch Wilmore also left from Space Station on 18 March today. The hatch of this spacecraft i.e. at 08:35 am after the four Astronauts rode in the dragon spacecraft, the door closed and the spacecraft separated from the International Space Station at 10:35 am. It will land on the banks of Florida at around 3:27 am on March 19.
