Kapil Neele, Indore. Goods from the industries of Indore-Pithampur will now be easily transported to the ports of Gujarat and Mumbai. Pithampur will be connected to highways. This entire exercise has started after the suggestion of Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari.
However, preparations are underway to hand over the construction to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). NHAI has to prepare an outline regarding the Port Connectivity Corridor in the next few months.
Right now there is no direct route to send goods to Mumbai-Gujarat port.
- Link road will be constructed from Pithampur for Indore-Mumbai and Indore-Ahmedabad. According to officials, we will expand the Indore-Khalghat section on the Indore-Mumbai highway. So that the containers coming out of Pithampur can reach the port quickly.
- After conducting aerial inspection of Indore-Khandwa Highway last Thursday, Minister Gadkari took a review meeting, in which emphasis was laid on the Port Connectivity Corridor. There is no direct route to send goods to Mumbai-Gujarat port.
- Due to heavy traffic, it takes five days for industries to reach their goods at the port. This is the biggest problem facing the industries. To find a solution to this, NHAI has prepared to connect several highways to Indore-Pithampur.
Three ports will be connected through port corridor
Three ports of Mumbai and Gujarat will be connected to Indore through the Port Corridor. This includes Hazira and Kandla ports near Surat in Gujarat and Jawaharlal Nehru Port in Navi Mumbai.
The link road from Pithampur to Indore-Ahmedabad Highway will connect to Thandla. This is a stretch of forty kilometres. The route will be developed as a four lane. The Khalghat section of the Indore-Mumbai highway will be expanded. Will be converted from four lane to six lane.
Will also connect Delhi-Mumbai highway
Delhi-Mumbai Highway will be connected to Indore, which will pass through Garoth via Ujjain. Through this route, goods from industries will be able to reach the port in Mumbai.
According to officials, land will also be required for the link road. Its process will be started after approving the proposal. The state government will also help in acquiring land.
