Expressing grief over this incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also asked the officials to help all the people affected. A passenger Dharmendra Singh said, “I was going to Prayagraj but many trains were running or canceled. There was a lot of crowd at the station. I saw such a crowd for the first time at this station. Six-seven women were taken to stretcher in front of me. “

Another passenger Pramod Chaurasia said, “I had a sleeper class ticket of Purushottam Express, but the confirmed tickets could not climb the train. A friend and a female passenger got caught in the crowd. There was a lot of shock. We managed to stay safe by waiting outside with our children. “
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Railways) said in an official statement that when the Prayagraj Express train was standing on platform number 14, many people were present there. The official said that the freedom fighter Express and Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express were running late and passengers of these trains were also present at platform numbers 12, 13 and 14.
