Priyanka Gandhi joined the House proceedings on Tuesday.
Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said- I do not know which planet she (Nirmala Sitharaman) is living on. They are saying that there is no inflation, unemployment has not increased, prices have not increased.
Priyanka’s statement came on the statement of Finance Minister Sitharaman in Parliament on Tuesday, in which she said that inflation is much less in PM Modi’s government compared to the UPA government in India.
During the discussion on budget 2025 in Lok Sabha, Nirmala Sitharaman said-
Food inflation was 11 percent during the second term of the UPA -led central government, which was shocking. Food inflation under the NDA government was reduced by 5.3% from 2014 to 2024. There is no longer inflation of double digits of 10% seen in the time of UPA.
What other MPs said…
- Kanimozhi (DMK)- Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s reply on the budget was inspired by politics in the Lok Sabha. I do not think this was the answer to the discussion in Parliament, because many relevant questions were raised. But the Finance Minister was actually responding to special state governments and making it very political.
- KC Venugopal (Congress)- The Finance Minister’s reply to the budget discussion in the Lok Sabha was the masterclass of avoiding blame, diverting attention and diverting attention from reality. He dismissed the important issues raised by the opposition in an egoistic manner. This shows that his real intention was not to answer the deficiencies exposed in the budget, but to get a political number.
On the eighth day the budget session, the Finance Minister responded to questions related to the budget.
Inflation management is the top priority of Modi government
Nirmala had said that inflation management is the top priority of this government (Modi government). Inflation trends seem to be decreasing especially food inflation. The government is using almost the entire borrowing in 2025-26 for the funding of capital expenditure.
He had said that India was one of the five weak economies in 2008. He then said that India is one of the five fastest economies. The unemployment rate in India will be reduced from 6 percent to 3 percent in 2024 in 2017, which is the effect of the Center’s employment fair.
The main things of Nirmala’s speech …
- Emphasis is being laid on increasing production in 100 most backward districts in agricultural production. He said that before 2014, 45% of the houses did not have LPG connection or clean fuel. Now, up to about 32 crore houses i.e. clean fuel of cooking up to about 100% houses is available. More than 10.3 crore beneficiaries are getting LPG cylinder for Rs 503.
- The fourth major step has been taken since independence to improve operational efficiency in ministries. They had to come to us to get permission for small zodiac signs. The ministry is now more powerful, so decisions regarding distribution of funds are made quickly.
- In the Lok Sabha, the government said that the government is emphasizing on bringing prosperity to the villages, making agriculture, MSME, investment and export growth engines.
Global Macro-Economic environment huge uncertainty and change
Nirmala Sitharaman had said that the budget came at a time when there are huge uncertainty and changes in the global macro-economic environment. The focus of the budget is on the poor, youth, food donors and women. Its basis was to present new schemes and reforms to promote agriculture, MSME and exports. Which were in the form of development, along with the provision of development, rural prosperity and flexibility.
He had said that effective capital expenditure for 2025-26 is 4.3% and fiscal deficit is 4.4% of GDP. This indicates that the government is using complete lending resources for funding of effective capital expenditure and construction of capital assets.
Sonia Gandhi had said- 14 crore people deprived of food security law
On February 10, the seventh day of the budget session, in the Rajya Sabha, Congress MP Sonia Gandhi said that 14 crore people are out of the Food Security Act. They should be brought under this law. Sonia demanded the government that the census should be done at the earliest.
He had said that the National Food Security Act (NFSA), introduced by the UPA government in September 2013, was a historic initiative to ensure food and nutritional security for the 140 million population of the country. It played an important role in protecting millions of families from starvation, especially during the Covid-19 crisis. …
