Drug Free Punjab: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, while announcing the fight against the problem of drug addiction, today ordered Police Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and SSP to make Punjab a drug -free state within three months. During a meeting with Police Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and SSP at Punjab Bhavan here today, the Chief Minister said that the state government has adopted a policy of not having any kind of sympathy towards drugs and is starting a wide fight against this problem.
The Chief Minister said that the government will set up special fast track courts to rapid hearing of drug cases and punish the culprits. He also said that the police and civil administration will be given full support and cooperation for this work. The Chief Minister said to take necessary steps for the prevention of intoxication in schools and colleges so that our youth do not come under it. He talked about breaking the drug supply line completely and putting those who sell drug addicts in jail.
Bhagwant Singh Mann also said that the state government will ensure that drug smugglers and their families are not given any subsidy in electricity, water and other facilities so that the criminals can be strictly dealt with. He said that if any other amendment is needed in the NDPS Act to set an example against drug traffickers, then he will raise this issue before the central government.
The Chief Minister said that the fight against intoxication should be converted into mass and social movement, for which the authorities should make appropriate plans for extensive action. During the meeting, the Chief Minister gave the example of Narangwal village, where the illegal property of drug smuggler was demolished on Thursday evening. He also said that a library will now be built on the common land on which this house was built.
Bhagwant Singh Mann told the police commissioners and SSP that the presence of drugs should be completely eliminated within three months under his jurisdiction. After a month, every SSP will evaluate the progress of the anti -drug program in the district and strict action will be taken against those who do not perform the performance. He said that cases should be registered against drug traffickers, for which a list has already been provided by ANTF. He told the officials that all efforts should be made to cancel the bail of the arrested culprits in cases of large/moderate amounts of intoxication. Emphasis was also laid on presenting the charge sheet on time in NDPS cases. Bhagwant Singh Mann further said that strict investigation of vehicles should be ensured day and night to prevent drug supply. The Chief Minister said that the property of the culprits of drug smuggling should be confiscated with immediate effect and the property should be seized 100 percent in cases of commercial quantity intoxication. During this, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that illegal properties should be completely demolished in cases of vocational purpose intoxication.
