A video from inside the Shri Jagannath Temple of Puri in Odisha is becoming increasingly viral on the social media platform Instagram. This video was shared by a user named Banke Bihari Ananta. Pictures of the temple complex and the sanctum sanctorum are visible in the video. This incident is once again raising serious questions on the security arrangements of this ancient temple. Photography inside the temple is banned by the Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA). Apart from this, servants and other temple staff are also not allowed inside with smartphones.

The temple administration has also installed mobile stands outside to keep phones. Anyone who violates this rule and takes the phone inside has to pay a fine of Rs 1,000. Despite this, a video was made inside the temple and it was also shared on social media. Devotees have expressed displeasure over this incident and alleged that the police officers deployed outside the temple are not performing their responsibilities properly, due to which such cases are happening again and again.

Appeal to people not to make the video viral

The Chief Administrator of Shri Jagannath Temple said that he has asked his team to file a complaint and appealed to the people not to make the video viral. Meanwhile, according to Puri SP Vineet Aggarwal, this matter has come to the notice of the police and the police will soon take action on this matter. This incident is shaking people’s confidence in the temple administration and security arrangements and needs to be taken seriously.

Drone was seen over the temple on January 5

A drone was seen over the Jagannath temple in Puri in the early hours of Sunday (January 5). The drone was spotted over the temple around 4:10 am and was hovering for about half an hour, raising security concerns. This is a no-fly area. Separate teams were formed to investigate the incident. Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan had expressed concern, saying, “Flying drones over the temple is illegal and not acceptable.” Strict legal action will be taken against anyone who violates security. Puri SP (Superintendent of Police) has formed a team and started investigating the incident. I am hopeful that the person concerned will be identified and the drone will be seized.” Harichandan had said that to ensure that such incidents do not happen in future, the government will be manning four monitoring towers located around the temple complex round the clock. Police are planning to deploy personnel. It is suspected that some vlogger might have flown a drone over the temple. However, the wrong intention behind this cannot be ruled out.
