Therefore this becomes a case of fraud.
The FBI claimed in the court that Adani offered bribe to Indian officials to get the contract; Adani Group was going to get a profit of about Rs 17 thousand crore in the next 20 years from that contract. After this, America’s Securities and Exchange Commission also filed a civil suit against Gautam Adani, his nephew Sagar Adani and Cyril Cabanez. Accusations were made against Adani in America. The first impact was on the stock market. The shares of Adani Group fell by 10 to 20 percent, due to which investors lost about Rs 2.5 lakh crore.
The second impact was that the $600 million bond that Adani Green Company had issued to raise money from the stock market in America was withdrawn. In its statement, Adani Group termed all the allegations leveled against the group as false and baseless. The statement said that Adani Group follows the law and the allegations made will be answered according to law.
There are two sides to Adani’s case. One political, the other financial. Rahul Gandhi has been using Gautam Adani as a weapon to attack Narendra Modi for the last 10 years. Adani as excuse, Modi as target, but Rahul could not succeed much in this. Even today, there is no BJP government in any of the states where officers were accused of bribing.
