Rajnath Singh attended the 9th Armed Forces Veterans Day event in Akhnoor, Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has described PoK i.e. Pakistan Occupied Kashmir as an integral part of India. He said that Jammu and Kashmir is incomplete without PoK. PoK is nothing but a foreign land for Pakistan and it is using this land to spread terrorism. Training camps are being run for terrorists in PoK. Rajnath Singh said this at the 9th Armed Forces Veterans Day event in Akhnoor, Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.
He said that in 1965, a war was fought between India and Pakistan in Akhnoor. India had foiled all the efforts of the Pakistani army. Till now, in all the wars fought between India and Pakistan, India has defeated Pakistan. Since 1965, Pakistan had started promoting illegal infiltration and terrorism in India.
Rajnath said that our Muslim brothers have sacrificed their lives fighting against terrorism. Even today, more than 80% of the terrorists who enter India come from Pakistan. Cross-border terrorism could have ended in 1965 itself, but the then Lal Bahadur Shastri-led central government was unable to convert the tactical gains made in the war into strategic gains.

Rajnath Singh said that the priority of our government is to bridge the gap between Kashmir and the rest of the country. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is taking steps in this direction. Veterans Day celebration in Akhnoor proves that Akhnoor has the same place in our hearts as Delhi does.
Omar Abdullah said – it is our responsibility to serve veterans
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who participated in the program, said that ex-servicemen sacrificed everything for the country. You are the same people who sacrificed for the security of the country without worrying about their future or life. Now it is our responsibility to serve you. It is our duty to ensure that you have a comfortable life. Only by doing this we will be able to repay the loan.
He said that we will try our best to ensure that reservation is fully utilized in recruitment and that you get the necessary financial assistance under the schemes without any hindrance. I have no hesitation in saying that Satish Sharma, son of a retired soldier, is in my cabinet.

Celebrated Ex-Servicemen Day on the retirement day of Field Marshal KM Cariappa
Armed Forces Ex-Servicemen Day is celebrated every year on 14 January. Field Marshal KM Cariappa, the first Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, retired on this day in 1953. This day is celebrated to recognize the service rendered by them. This day was celebrated for the first time in 2016.
