Kannada actress Ranya Rao was arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) with 14.8 kg gold at Bangalore International Airport late on March 3. This information came to light on Wednesday (March 5). Ranya Karnataka Police Housing Corporation Director General of Police (DGP) is the step daughter of Ramchandra Rao.
During a conversation with the agency, Rao said- There is no black spot on my career. Like any other father, when I came to know this through the media, I became shocked and desperate. I was not aware of any of these things. I do not want to say more than this.
He said- Ranya is no longer living with us. She is living separately with her husband. There is definitely some problem between them. Perhaps there are some family reasons. The law will do its job.

Sources claim that Ranya gets 1 lakh rupees for bringing one kilo of gold. He earned 12 to 13 lakh rupees in every trip. According to DRI officials, Ranya Rao returned to India from Dubai via Emirates Flight. Security agencies were already monitoring their activity, as she had gone to Dubai 4 times in the last 15 days.
Ranya had gold hidden in her clothes. The price of which is 12.56 crores. Apart from this, the police also raided her house. Gold worth 2 crore and cash of Rs 2 crore was recovered from there.
DRI’s Delhi team was already aware of Ranya’s involvement in gold smuggling. So on March 3, the officers reached the airport two hours before the land of his flight.

Trying to avoid custom through police According to the information, Ranya Rao described herself as the daughter of DGP of Karnataka as soon as he landed at the airport. Also tried to contact the local police and remove it from the airport, but DRI’s team took them to Dri Headquarters in Bangalore for questioning.
Investigation revealed that Ranya was hiding gold in her clothes. He was detained at 7 pm on 3 March.
Smuggling was being done in the name of business During the investigation, Ranya claimed that she had gone to Dubai in connection with the business. However, DRI officials suspect that she may be part of a large network of smuggling. Now investigating agencies are trying to find out whether this happened for the first time or she has been involved in gold smuggling earlier.
