Reply duty: Goyal will go to America again! – America will lead go to America –

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal may visit the US again earlier next week. The person expert in this case said on Tuesday that Goyal can go with the revised product list on which India is ready to reduce the fee.

The purpose of this era of Goyal is to protect India from the counter -duty of America. The Donald Trump administration plans to impose retaliation from April 2. The aim of this action of America is to impose equal fees to other countries fees, taxes and non -fees obstacles.

Goyal met senior officials of the Trump administration before coming to India on Saturday last week. He informed that the initial initiative to reduce the fees of the Indian side has been considered inadequate and hence the revised proposal is being prepared. Another person who is aware of the case said that Goyal will meet exporters and representatives of the industry on Thursday before going to America. They will discuss the impact of possible fees deduction with them and assess their level of ease.

This will be the second visit to the Indian side in less than a month. The visit highlights India’s immediate concerns when the US counter -duty duty is imposed. The source told the that India and the US plan to finalize the bilateral trade agreement (BTA) in the next seven-eight months. The US side wants zero fee on almost all its products exported to India. So far, there has been no negative response to the reduction of fees on labor intensive export areas such as textiles, leather etc.

The source said, ‘Labor intensive regions are not worried about any duty and they do not feel threatened by additional imports from America. This concern is more about the areas of agriculture, vehicles, telecom etc. Trump has said many times to public forums that India is a high -paying country.

He is under extreme pressure on India to reduce the duty. There is pressure on India to reduce fees on cars and politically sensitive areas such as agriculture. According to Nomura report, the average effective fee on exports to India from the US is 9.5 per cent while the average effective fee on products exported to the US from India is 3 per cent.

Apart from this, the Central Government has informed Parliament that the US has not yet imposed retaliation on India. Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jatin Prasad told the Lok Sabha that India and America plan to carry forward negotiations on multi -sector BTAs.

Prasad said, ‘The US has issued a circular on mutual trade and duty on February 13, 2025. It states that the US Commerce Minister and the US trade representative has to take necessary action to investigate the damage done to the US by any non-communicable trade agreement adopted by business partners and to provide a report with detailed proposed measures for each trading partner. Based on this, the US can take action under American law with its business partner. ‘
