The Justin Trudeau-led Canadian government on Friday refuted a report linking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval to criminal activities in Canada, saying it is “speculative and inaccurate”. Nathalie G. Drouin, Justin Trudeau’s national security and intelligence adviser, said in a statement that the Canadian government is “not aware” of any evidence for the claims made by the Canadian media house citing unnamed officials.
Earlier the allegations were made… now Trudeau government retracted
In fact, in a report by Canada’s Globe and Mail newspaper, quoting Canadian officials, it has been said that India was already aware of the conspiracy to assassinate Nijjar. The report claimed that the Indian National Security Advisor and the Foreign Minister were also involved in this conspiracy. But the Trudeau government has now distanced itself from this news and rejected it.
Diplomatic crisis between India and Canada over Nijjar
Relations between India and Canada had soured after the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Canada had made many allegations against India on the murder of Nijjar. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had made baseless allegations of involvement of Indian agents in this conspiracy. He claimed that he had reliable evidence for this. But when India asked him to show evidence, he could not do so. India demanded evidence several times, but no documents were handed over.
India called Canadian media report ridiculous
India had already rejected the Canadian media report. In response to this Canadian report on Thursday, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that such ridiculous statements allegedly made by a Canadian government source in a newspaper should not be given any importance. Such news is spread with the aim of defaming someone. We have already told that India has nothing to do with the murder of Nijjar. We are saying once again that India is being linked to this matter without any evidence and basis.
It is noteworthy that in the news of Canadian newspaper ‘The Globe and Mail’, the newspaper has cited a senior national security official. It has been claimed in the news that India’s National Security Advisor and Foreign Minister were also aware of this conspiracy. Nijjar was shot dead last year. India has rejected all the allegations made by Canada in this matter.
