Army Day was celebrated at Bombay Engineers Group and Center Parade Ground in Pune under Southern Command.
The Indian Army celebrated the 77th Army Day in Pune, Maharashtra on Wednesday. The Army Day Parade was held at Bombay Engineers Group and Center Parade Ground, Pune. Along with this, this is the third consecutive year when the Army Day parade has been held outside Delhi. Army Day in 2023 was celebrated in Bengaluru, while last year it was celebrated in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh.
8 marching contingents from different regimental centers marched past in the parade. These included the Maratha Regimental Center of Belagavi, Artillery Center of Nashik, Army Ordnance Regimental Center of Secunderabad, Mechanized Infantry Regimental Center of Ahilya Nagar, Madras Regimental Center of Wellington, BEG Center of Khadki and the cavalry contingent of the Army Service Corps Horse Contingent.
For the first time, two special contingents participated in the Army Day Parade. These included the Women’s Agniveer Contingent of the Corps of Military Police and the Girls NCC Contingent of the Maharashtra Directorate. Along with this, for the first time, 12 robotic dogs also participated in the parade.
52 awards were also given in the Army Day celebration. This included 15 Sena Medals (Gallantry), of which 8 were awarded posthumously. Apart from this, 37 Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Unit Appreciation Awards were given for the outstanding efforts of units of various commands.

Band contingent of Nepali Army also participated in the parade. There are 3 women in this group of 33 members.
Sukhoi aircraft, helicopters did flypast
Sukhoi aircraft and army helicopters did a fly-past in the parade. Prominent military equipment in the parade included the K-9 Vajra self-propelled howitzer, BMP-2 Sarath Infantry Combat Vehicle, and the powerful T-90 tank. In addition, Swati Weapon Locating Radar was also demonstrated, which enhances the Army’s ability to detect the precise location of enemy guns and ensure effective retaliatory response.
During this, the heroes awarded with Paramvir Chakra and Ashok Chakra were also honored. These included heroes like Honorary Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav, Paramvir Chakra, Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar, Paramvir Chakra, and Colonel D. Shriram Kumar (Ashok Chakra). He was present in this program as a special guest.
General Upendra Dwivedi said – taking care of the families of martyrs is our priority
Before the start of this parade, Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi offered flowers at the Command War Memorial. He paid tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country. General Upendra Dwivedi took the salute during the parade as the reviewing officer. The parade was led by Major General Anurag Vij, who is the General Officer Commanding South Maharashtra and Goa Sub Area.
In his address, General Upendra Dwivedi extended Army Day greetings to all ranks of the Indian Army, their families, retired soldiers, widows of martyrs and civil defense personnel. Apart from paying tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country, he also ensured that taking care of their families is the priority of the Army.
He expressed pride in the dedication of the soldiers, be it in securing the borders, providing disaster relief or maintaining peace in a challenging environment.

Field Marshal K.M. Army Day is celebrated in honor of Cariappa
