Indian captain Rohit Sharma can visit Pakistan for the opening ceremony of ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament will be hosted by Pakistan from February 19. The Champions Trophy 2025 is being played in the hybrid model. Team India will play all its matches in Dubai.

A source told news agency IANS, Indian captain Rohit Sharma can go to Pakistan for the opening ceremony of the Champions Trophy. All the captains will go to Pakistan to participate in this. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has planned the opening ceremony. This opening ceremony can take place on 16 or 17 February. This will depend on the schedule of warm-up matches.

However, no information has been given yet by ICC or BCCI regarding this.

The second group consists of Australia, England, South Africa and Afghanistan. There will be two semi-finals on 4th and 5th March, while the final will be played on 9th March.

After this, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had first proposed to hold all the Indian matches in Lahore and send the players to India after the match. When India did not accept this, PCB also refused for the hybrid model.

All India’s matches in the Champions Trophy 2025 will be played at neutral venues. Pakistani team will also not come to India for any tournament till 2027. Its matches will also be held at neutral venues.

Information about this decision of ICC came to light on 19 December. This decision was taken earlier in the meeting. The 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup is to be held in India, the T-20 World Cup in 2026 in India and Sri Lanka.

Earlier, when the ICC had told the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about holding the Champions Trophy 2025 in a hybrid model, the PCB had put forth a demand before the ICC not to send the team to India, which has now been accepted by the ICC.

The last bilateral series between India and Pakistan took place in January 2013. Since then both the teams have faced each other only in ICC and ACC tournaments.

After the terrorist attacks on Mumbai in 2008, the Indian government refused to play cricket in Pakistan. Since then both the teams play only in ICC and ACC tournaments.
