In fact, soon after the birth of the younger ‘Shambhu’, his mother and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s first wife Sai Bai fell ill. It was not possible for him to feed his son. Due to the absence of milk of the mother, the small Shambhu was getting weaker day by day. Seeing this condition, Rajvaidya suggested to the mother of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Jijau i.e. Aau Saheb that she would have to find a midwife for Shambhu Raje, who would have to find a midwife who Can give them your milk. At his behest, the search of such mothers started in the entire state, who have recently given birth to a child and who are capable of giving their milk to the younger ‘Shambhu’.

Initially denied
Dharau and her husband Tukoji Gade Patil lived in Wakal village of Pune district. At the time when the search for the milking girl for Shambhu king began, Dharau gave birth to his son. When it was proposed to him that he had to feed a small child, he initially refused. He had said that I will not give milk to my son’s share to any other child. But when he came to know that the child he had to give milk, he is none other than his beloved ‘Shivarai’ (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj), then he thanked his mother Bhavani and thanked him. She also considered her to feed her ladle king’s son, and so she immediately finished her work and reached her younger son’s back directly to Purandar’s fort.
No money
Dharau was asked to take his son on Purandar that he would get all the milk they want, then he would only have to feed the Maharaj’s son, then he said that I am a mother and there can never be any business of mother’s milk. . It can never be purchased or sold. ‘Shambhu’ is the son of our Shivba king. When our king is running from one country to another for our happiness without thinking about his happiness, then how can we pay the price of our milk for his son? This opportunity is an opportunity for me to serve Swarajya and this will be a small contribution for Maharaj’s Swarajya.

Shortly after the birth of Chhoti Shambhu, his mother died, but Dharau gave him love like a mother. Sambhaji Maharaj also played this milk relationship till the end. He used to respect Dharau like a mother. It is also shown in the film ‘Chhava’ how Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj made Dharau sit in scales and donated as much gold to the needy. Both his sons Antaji and Rai Chhatrapati were martyred while saving them at the time of Sambhaji Maharaj’s last battle.
