Villagers got scared after satellite payload balloon fell in Jalsangi village.
A satellite payload balloon fell on the roof of a house in Jalsangi village of Bidar district of Karnataka on Saturday morning. The villagers told that this balloon which looked like an airbag had a big machine attached to it. In which red light was burning.
Villagers said- A letter was also found along with this object which looked like a round spaceship. It had Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) Balloon Service written in Kannada language. The villagers informed this to the Homnabad police.
The police reached the spot and informed TIFR about the payload landing in this village. TIFR team is reaching the village to collect the payload. Police said that the satellite payload balloon was flown by TIFR for experiment. This is not a new thing, TIFR often does such experiments.
According to TIFR, a satellite payload balloon is a large balloon, which carries electronic parts of scientific machines above the earth into the atmosphere. After this the payload is freed from the balloon and is taken back to earth by parachute. There is a possibility that this payload might have fallen in the village while taking off again.

Villagers gathered to see the satellite payload balloon.
The ropes attached to the balloon got entangled in the roof and trees of the village.
After getting information from the villagers, the police reached the spot and explained to the villagers that there was no need to be afraid.
The police pacified the frightened village people
Police said that there was no damage caused by the balloon falling on the roof of the village house. This is part of the regular experiment. However, the villagers were scared by the fall of the balloon. Police reached the spot and pacified them.
Payload balloon contains helium gas
According to Devendra Kumar Ojha, Chairman of TIFR’s Balloon Department, this balloon is a kind of space capsule. 2.8 lakh cubic meters of helium gas is filled in it. By sitting in it, people can be taken to space 40 kilometers away from the earth. This experiment was done for the Spanish company HALO SPACE. People will soon be able to reach space with such balloons.
By sitting in this ‘space capsule’, passengers are taken up to a height of 40 kilometers from the earth in an atmosphere where there is zero pressure. We call this the stratosphere. After reaching there the traveler sees the edge of the earth.
Devendra Ojha said that before sending a person to space, we want to ensure that he can reach there easily and that his landing and recovery is absolutely safe. The same experiment is being done in collaboration with HALO.
Going to the stratosphere in a plane or rocket will not have any effect on the passengers, but we checked with the space capsule made by the company whether it can withstand the temperature and pressure there at an altitude of 40 kilometers from the earth or not? Can we return safely by going in the capsule?
Satellite payload balloon had landed in a village in Karnataka 2 years ago also.
In December 2022, it landed in Mogligundla village of Vikarabad, 100 km from Hyderabad. Due to its appearance like a UFO (Unidentified flying object) or unknown alien ship, panic spread among the villagers.
Tollywood director Jagarlamudi Krish, who was present in Ramoji Film City, had made a video of this and shared it on social media. The video started trending on social media. Read the full news…
