State Bureau, Naiduniya, Bhopal. Lokayukta police has not yet been able to take statements from the relatives and close relatives of former transport constable Saurabh Sharma, accused of collecting crores of rupees from black money. On Tuesday, investigating officer Virendra Kumar Singh went to Saurabh’s house and interrogated his mother Uma Sharma, but his close relatives and employees have not been interrogated yet.
The residence of Saurabh Sharma and his close aide Chetan Gaur was raided by the Lokayukta team on December 18. That means after 12 days, only his mother’s statements have been made.
Registries found in raid
According to sources, the police found 20 to 30 registries in the raid. There has to be an inquiry about whether they are anonymous or not. Those who have property in their name will be interrogated first. If he says that the price of the property was paid by Saurabh and it was being used by him or his relatives, then it will be kept in the category of benami.
Summons has been issued
In such a situation, these properties can be confiscated. Apart from this, information about transactions of properties through petrol pumps and donation letters will also be revealed after enquiry. The Income Tax Department has prepared to interrogate more than 50 people in this entire matter, but the Lokayukta Police has so far issued summons for questioning only to Saurabh Sharma, wife Divya, mother Uma Sharma, close friend Sharad Jaiswal and Chetan Gaur. Like Chetan, Sharad Jaiswal is also close to Saurabh.
Police suspect that Saurabh had also purchased immovable property in the name of Jaiswal, but until both are interrogated the truth will not come out.
Even Chetan did not record his statement
Chetan Gaur, close to Saurabh, has recorded his statement in ED and Income Tax, but Lokayukta police has not interrogated him yet. The car in which 54 kg of gold and about Rs 10 crore in cash was found was in the name of Chetan.
He was in the house the day the Lokayukta police conducted the raid. Police officers had taken information about the things kept at his place that day, but his statement has not been taken yet after the summons was issued.
Preparation for interrogation of more than 50
Income Tax Department will interrogate more than 50 people to detect benami properties. After seizing gold and cash, the Income Tax Department is also busy in finding out the benami properties of Saurabh. Chetan Gaur was the first to be called for questioning in this regard. Now all those people whose names are suspected to have purchased property by Saurabh will be interrogated one by one.
ED had taken action at eight places
Sharad Jaiswal, Jabalpur resident Saurabh’s relative Rohit Tiwari and his close ones in Gwalior will be interrogated in the case. Some retired IAS officers, businessmen and Saurabh’s employees will be interrogated in the case. ED has also prepared to issue inquiry notices to the concerned after raiding Saurabh and his close associates at eight places last week.
