many characters missing

Lokayukta police has so far been able to interrogate Chetan Singh Gaur and Saurabh’s mother Uma Sharma. Many characters are still missing in the case. Saurabh’s close relatives are also on the police radar. Chetan had earlier told the police and Income Tax Department during interrogation that Saurabh had taken the contract of fisheries and petrol pump in his name.

The day after the Lokayukta raid, the car in which 54 kg gold and Rs 10 crore cash were found was also in the name of Chetan, but he had told that the car was being used by Saurabh and people from his office.

Lokayukta police are likely to get information regarding benami property in Dubai and additional bank lockers after interrogating Saurabh. Saurabh’s whereabouts are unknown even before the Lokayukta raid. Lookout circular is also issued against him.

Anticipatory bail petition rejected

His anticipatory bail plea has been rejected by the District Court, Bhopal, hence the chances of Saurabh surrendering before the police have increased. The Income Tax and Enforcement Directorate (ED) is also investigating Saurabh Sharma’s benami properties. The investigation of these two agencies is also not progressing due to Saurabh not being interrogated.

Benami is included in disproportionate assets under the Prevention of Corruption Act. By the order of the Special Anti-Corruption Court, such properties are confiscated by the state government. Similar procedure will be adopted if Saurabh’s benami properties are found.
