New Delhi:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached the French city of Marsile on Wednesday morning. There he paid tribute to the Indian freedom fighter VD Savarkar. Savarkar escaped from this port city from the British ship on July 6, 1910 when he was being arrested and brought to India in London. Even after having handcuffs in his hand, he managed to participate in the ship. After an agreement in France and Britain on 25 October 1910, Savarkar was handed over to the British police. After this, he was prosecuted in India. He was sentenced to two life imprisonment on 24 December 1910. Black water was sent to him to fulfill this punishment. He was kept in the cellular jail of Andaman.
Where did VD Savarkar establish Abhinav India
Savarkar left for London on June 9, 1906 from Bombay (today’s Mumbai) on a ship named SS Persia. During this journey, he talked to his hitchhikers and established an organization called ‘Abhinav Bharat’. Savarkar reached Marsile during this journey. He caught the train for London from there. Savarkar’s visit to Marsile is recorded in a book called ‘Inside the Animi Camp’. He traveled to this city with the help of a tourist guide. He was interested in an Italian revolutionary named Juspi Mejini, who spent his underground life in Marselle, but even after much effort, Marsile could not find the house where Mejini lived. Here we are telling you about Savarkar’s visit to Marsile and his experiences by quoting the same book.
Savarkar wrote in his experience, “Finally our ship crossed the Red Sea and entered the Suez Port. What I saw was amazing. A lot of items were sold and bought. Asia, Europe and Africa meet here. It was a unique exhibition, all colors and shaped humans gathering, African, Chinese, Japanese were all there. A working language develops in such circumstances. People do their transactions in it. From Port Suez, we came to Marsile, France. From here, we had to catch the train for London. ”
Whose house was looking for Savarkar in Marsile
He wrote, “I used to be specially interested in Marsile. From here, the French army contingent went to Paris spreading the message of the great revolution of 1789. It was here that the famous French national anthem was composed by Rouget de Lisle. The song called Marsile gave the French indiscriminate inspiration to the French during their fight against England, Prashiya, Spain and Austria. ”
Landed in Marseille. In India’s Quest for Freedom, this city holds special significance. It was here that the great veer savarkar attempted a courageous escape. I also want to thank the people of Marseille and the French Activists of that time who demanded that he not be handed…

He wrote, “There was another attraction for me in Marsile. Mejini (1805-72), my hero of the Italian freedom struggle, came to Marcile to take refuge when he was disobedient. He had no friend or familiar, there was no food, no shelter. Still he remained firm and he established his secret organization ‘Young Italy’. Later, Austrian officials in Italy sentenced Megini to death in absence, but could not be carried out in France. So Mejini stayed in Marsile. The Austrian people pressurized France and the French ordered Megini to leave France. He went underground and stayed in Marsile. Later, he left Marsile to participate in a rebellion in Italy. Then they left Marsile. So this city was very revered for me. ”
Did anyone know Majini in Marsile
Savarkar writes, “I went to the city with a tourist guide. He showed me buildings, gardens, ancient remains etc. of local importance. I asked him to show the house where the great Italian freedom fighter ever lived. He was amazed and replied, I know the city well, but I never heard about Mejini. If you have any address, I can inquire. I thought in my mind, after all, this man is only running his livelihood. How would he know detailed history? ”
VD Savarkar founded an organization called Abhinav Bharat.
He wrote, “I suggested that he should contact the editor or local teacher of a newspaper.” Fortunately, we got the office of a newspaper. My guide went in and made some inquiries. When he came out, he said, the editor says, we do not know the house where the Majini of Italy ever lived. Please inquire in Italy. Perhaps the Italian people would know the place. I laughed and thought in my mind, when Majini came to Marsile 60 or 70 years ago, hardly any French would know them. Today hundreds of passengers are coming here from many countries. Nobody cares for me- an Indian revolutionary. Similarly, when some Italian revolutionaries were roaming the streets of this city once, the French hardly cared.
Equality between Nashik and Marselle
He wrote, “When Mejini founded her secret institution here, the status and strength of that society was no different from our innovative India. French could not care about the fate of Italy. It was only after that it was natural that the French was not a record of the living or activities in Marseli anyway. Were?”
Savarkar wrote, “My guide took me from the place which I consider to be an old city. It was very similar to the streets of my hometown Nashik. It was surprising that both cities had cobblestone roads, which were firmly frozen as about two hundred years ago. By the time I returned from my guided tour, by then the train time for England was almost. I sat in my compartment, along with other Indians, and as soon as the train started running, I saluted the great city of Marsile. Nobody would have imagined the turmoil that was going to come in just four years. Today, no French knows me here. And yet in four years many French will ask- who is this Savarkar? The issue of Indian freedom struggle will be a matter of discussion throughout Europe. And as a coincidence, Marsile’s name will be in the headlines worldwide for at least one year. Nobody had an idea that this would happen. ”
