Security forces destroyed 4 bunkers in Manipur: Army-police joint search operation for 5 days; 9 weapons, ammunition recovered

Security forces had recovered 0.303 rifle, Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and grenade during the search operation on December 27.

Following increasing incidents of violence in Manipur, security forces have destroyed bunkers built in Imphal East and Kangpokpi districts. Manipur Police gave this information on Monday.

These bunkers were built in the areas bordering Thamnapokpi and Sansabi villages. From where the gunmen living on the hills were attacking the villages in the lower areas.

Apart from this, joint search operation of Army-Police was also going on for 5 days. The Army also recovered 9 arms and ammunition from Imphal East, Tengnoupal, Yangiangpokpi and Churachandpur from 23 December to 27 December.

When were the weapons recovered?

23 December- One light machine gun, one 12 bore single barrel gun, one 9 mm pistol, two tube launchers, explosives, ammunition. 27 December- 0.303 rifle, Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and grenade were recovered. 28 December- Two double barrel and one single bore rifles were recovered from two vehicles.
