An 18-year-old girl in Kerala has claimed that 64 people have sexually exploited her in the last 5 years. The matter came to light when an NGO reached the girl’s house during a routine field visit.
After the matter came to light, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) has complained to the Pathanamthitta Police. The police have registered an FIR and detained about 10 people. He is being interrogated.
The Child Welfare Committee got the girl counseled by a psychologist. During this, she told that when she was 13 years old, one of her neighbors had shared pornographic material with her for the first time. Now she is 18 years old.
Pathanamthitta District President of CWC, N Rajeev, said that the girl was being abused for about 5 years when she was studying in class 8th.
Sexual abuse took place even during training sessions The girl told during counseling that she used to be involved in sports activities during school time. She was also sexually assaulted several times during training sessions. Some of his videos were also circulated. She was quite devastated by this.
CWC said- will take care of the girl Pathanamthitta District President of CWC, N Rajeev, said that the girl was being abused for about 5 years when she was studying in class 8th. She was active in sports and was also reportedly abused in public places. Now CWC will take care of him.
Police said- 10 people were detained Pathanamthitta police said that the detailed statement of the girl will be recorded. More than 10 people have been detained so far in the case. He is being interrogated.
States of North and Central India on top in crimes against women
- The NCRB report has revealed that the rate of crime against women (number of incidents per 1 lakh population) has increased from 64.5% in 2021 to 66% in 2022.
- Out of this, a total of 48 thousand 755 cases of crime against women were registered in 19 metros during 2022, which is 12.3% more as compared to 2021 (43 thousand 414 cases).
- Uttar Pradesh is at the top in crime against women in 2022 with 65 thousand 743 cases. This is followed by Maharashtra (45331 cases) and Rajasthan (45058 cases), West Bengal (34738 cases) and Madhya Pradesh (32765 cases).
