Dhaka: Former Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina has fiercely targeted Mohammad Yunus, the head of the country’s interim government. While participating online in a program of her party Awami League, Hasina said that Mohammad Yunus has thrown Bangladesh into anarchy. He said that it is because of Yunus that mass murders are taking place in Bangladesh and Hindus are being targeted, he is the mastermind of all this. Hasina has also criticized the Yunus government for attacks on her party leaders and workers. He said that the present government has derailed the system of the country.

‘Mass murders were carried out as part of a plan’

Sheikh Hasina said, ‘After August 5, attacks on places of worship of minorities, Hindus, Christians and followers of Buddhism have increased. We condemn this, Jamaat and terrorists have got a free hand under the new regime. Hasina said that Yunus had carried out mass murders as per a well-planned plan. This statement of Hasina has come amid the unrest in Bangladesh after the arrest of Hindu saint Chinmoy Krishna Das. Sheikh Hasina had to leave the post of PM and Bangladesh after massive protests in August this year and is currently living in India.

‘Many people would have been killed’

Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had joined the party meeting being held in London online. During this he talked on many issues. Hasina said that if she had tried to remain in power, there would have been more bloodshed. Hasina said, ‘People were being killed so I decided that I will leave, I do not need to remain in power. If the security personnel had opened fire, many people would have died, I did not want that.

‘Bangladesh is in the grip of fascist rule’

During her address via phone, Sheikh Hasina said, ‘Bangladesh is now in the grip of a fascist regime, where the democratic rights of the people have been abolished. The achievements of our government in poverty alleviation and infrastructure development, strengthening democracy are being dashed under the leadership of Yunus.

‘I would have been murdered’

Hasina further said that the armed mob had come to Gana Bhavan (Bangladesh PM House) and had planned to kill me like my father Mujibur Rahman. In such a situation, it seemed right to me to leave Dhaka at that time. She said that I came from Bangladesh to save people’s lives but today I am being accused of mass murders. In reality, Mohammad Yunus, along with student coordinators, has committed mass murders as part of a well-planned plan.

‘No one will be able to escape from the law’

Regarding the attacks on minorities in Bangladesh, Hasina said, “If the Yunus government, which unconstitutionally grabbed power, fails to punish such people, then it will also be punished for violating human rights.” It is important to ensure safety of life and property of common people. The murderers and conspirators who harm our country will be held accountable under Bangladeshi law. Just as we took action against war criminals, justice will be meted out to today’s criminals too. No one will be able to escape the law.
