This document, titled ‘Policy Document for Team India’, was sent to the players on Thursday, which includes the advice from the review meeting held last week. This meeting was called after the crushing defeat in the New Zealand series and Border-Gavaskar Trophy, in which the team’s head coach Gautam Gambhir, Test and ODI captain Rohit Sharma, chief selector Ajit Agarkar and the new BCCI secretary Devjit Saikia also participated. Players will not be able to travel separately for tours, matches and practice.
In this BCCI meeting, it was said that some players travel on their own instead of the team bus for matches or practice, which breaks the discipline of the team. Apart from this, it was also said that some players are not spending time with the group in practice sessions, which spoils the atmosphere of the team.
BCCI has said that if any player has to travel separately for a match or training under certain circumstances, then he will have to take prior permission from the head coach or chief selector. Additionally, they will have to remain at a practice session for the entire duration, even if their training has ended earlier.
