Islamabad: Pakistan, known for spreading terror all over the world, is now trapped in its own web. This country has become a shelter of a terrorist, now it is now burning in the fire of terror itself. The Global Terrorism Index (GTI) 2025 report said that terrorism in Pakistan is increasing, making it the second most terrorism affected country in the world in 2024. According to the report, there has been an increase of 45 per cent in terrorism deaths in Pakistan. The figure increased to 1,081 in 2024 as compared to 748 deaths in 2023. These figures are one of the fastest growth in death from terrorism globally.

Earlier, Pakistan was fourth in this index. The number of terrorist attacks in Pakistan also increased from 517 in the year 2023 to 1,099 in 2024. This number has crossed the 1,000 mark for the first time. The report said that Pakistan has long been claiming that the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other terrorist organizations are using Afghanistan’s land to attack Pakistan. The report emphasizes that there is a significant relationship between the increase in terrorism in Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban coming to power in Kabul.

TTP is the deadliest terrorist group

The report said that terrorist groups operating in Afghanistan have specially intensified their attacks on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The report said that TTP remains the most deadly terrorist group in the country which is responsible for 52 per cent of all the deaths related to terrorism. The banned organization TTP carried out a total of 482 attacks in the year 2024, killing 558 people. The number of TTP attacks doubled compared to last year, while deaths increased by 90 percent. According to the report, “Since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in the year 2021, TTP has received more freedom and safe location across the border, giving it an open exemption to plan and carry out attacks.”

Most attacks in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The report also reported that Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were the most affected areas of terrorism in Pakistan. Both these areas are bordering Afghanistan. In the year 2024, more than 96 percent of terrorist attacks and deaths in Pakistan were recorded in these provinces. The report mentions the most deadly terrorist attack in 2024 by the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). In this attack, at least 25 civilians and soldiers were killed by a suicide bomber at Quetta railway station. According to Geo News, there has also been a significant increase in attacks by BLA and other organizations. The attacks of these organizations increased from 116 in the year 2023 to 504 in the year 2024. The number of deaths in these attacks increased by four times to 388, which was 88 in 2023. (Language)
