No other land got Oscar
Yawal Abraham, Basel Adra, Hamdan Ballal and Rachel Jor’s documentary film ‘No other land’ has received the Oscar Award for Best Documentary in Documentary Film category. At the Oscar ceremony held at Los Angeles, ‘No Other Land’ won the title, leaving behind documents like Black Box Diaries, Porcelane War, Sugraken and Soundtrack to a Coop D’Atate. ‘No other land’ is such a special documentary, which is made by Israeli and Palestinian filmmakers. When Basel Adra, one of the directors of ‘No other land’, came to take the award on the stage of the Oscar, he appealed to stop the destruction of Palestinians from there.
From the biggest platform of art in the world, director, activist and journalist Basel Adra said, “We want to say to the world that they take serious steps to stop the ethnic destruction of the Palestinians and the injustice against them.” He said, “I have become a father about two months ago, and I hope that my daughter does not have to live the life that I am living.” He said that ‘no other land’ reflects the bitter truth that we have been facing and protesting for decades.
Yawal Abraham is an Israeli journalist. He has also played with the ‘No Other Land’ documentary. He said, “We have made this film, Palestinian and Israelis, because together our voices are more powerful.” He said, “We see each other, we are watching the destruction of Gaza and the people there, it should end.” Israel’s hostages, who were caught during the violence of October 7, should be liberated. ”

What does ‘no other land’ show?
‘No other land’ is a collective effort of Israel and Palestine. In this documentary, the story of a family of Palestine is shown, whom the Israeli government is sending somewhere else from his house to West Bank. This documentary has been shot between 2019 and 2023. It was completed before Hamas’s October 7 attack.
Yawal Abraham said in his Oscar speech that he and Adra are living separate lives. He said, “We are living in a rule where I am free under Civilian Law and are living under Basel Military Act, which is destroying his life and he cannot control it either.”
Demand for political solution
He says that a way should be found in which a political solution comes out without ethnic domination, in which both people have national rights. During this, Abraham said that US President Donald Trump’s administration is helping the US Foreign Polesi closure that path. Abraham said, “Why are you not able to see that we are connected to each other, my people will be safe if the people of Basel will be really free and safe.”
Even though everyone is praising ‘No other land’ and it has also won the Oscar, but till now the film has not found a distributor in the US. In January, Abraham spoke to the variety and said, “There is something that is completely political. Yes, we are talking about Israel’s military occupation of West Bank, and it is very bad. Negotiations in America are very low. The place for such criticisms is very low here, even though it came out as a film. ”
