Study by kerosene lamp light

Anshuman was born in Navanagar, a small village in Buxar, Bihar, from where he did his schooling from 10th to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya of the village. There was a severe shortage of electricity in the village at that time, so he often studied with the help of kerosene lamp or lantern. Anshuman has always been top in studies since childhood. He did his intermediate studies from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Ranchi. After this he obtained an engineering degree. However, after this he decided to prepare for UPSC instead of doing a job and started preparing wholeheartedly.

Became IRS in first attempt but had passion to become IAS

Anshuman passed UPSC in his first attempt and got the position of IRS. But he was not satisfied with this, he was determined to become an IAS. So he continued his preparation, after this he gave two attempts and could not pass in both. After this, he achieved All India Rank 107 in his fourth attempt and finally became an IAS officer.

UPSC preparation can be done even while living in village

IAS Anshuman Raj believes that preparation for UPSC exam can be done not only in big cities but also by staying in the village, you just need a good internet connection for this. Regarding his success mantra, Anshuman says that only the right strategy and continuous efforts can bring you success.
