Altogether with indigenous fighter aircraft such as weapon missile Tejas. (File photo)
The Indian Air Force achieved a major achievement in Chandipur, Odisha. In this, a successful test of indigenous weapon air-to-air missile was done. The missile was launched from LCA Tejas MK1 Prototype.
In fact, the weapon missile has already been included in the fleet of the Indian Air Force. Because of this, successfully associated with indigenous fighter aircraft of weapons missile is a major achievement.
The weapon missile is built by DRDO. This missile is capable of killing enemy aircraft for a distance of more than 100 kilometers. It is completely based on indigenous technology, which has led to India that India can manufacture long-range air-to-air missiles. Earlier this technology was dominated by countries like America, Russia and France.
3 specialty of missile:
- Smochales Propulsion Technology, Due to which the enemy does not get an idea of its presence.
- Advanced Inrasial Navigation System, Which can also make the goals flying at high speed accurately.
- Altogether with indigenous fighter jets like Tejas.
Successful trial with Tejas for the first time, IAF’s strength will increase
Earlier, the weapon missile was posted on aircraft like Sukhoi SU-30 MKI. But this Test on 12 March 2025 proved that it also fits perfectly with indigenous fighter jets like LCA Tejas. This means that in the coming days, the Indian Air Force will further strengthen its aerial strength by deploying the weapon missile in Tejas.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the entire team of DRDO, IAF, ADA and HAL on this success and described it as a big step towards ‘self -reliant India’.
India’s defense strategy on the border will get new strength
This test is done at a time when India is engaged in modernizing its defense fleet. The firepower of the weapon missile and its successful launch from Tejas will strengthen India’s defense detection (defense resistance). This will prove to be important especially in terms of changing aerial war strategy on the border.
LCA Tejas MK1A from Astra will increase firepower
With this test, LCA Tejas will speed up the induction of MK1A variants. This advanced variant of Tejas is being developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). With the integration of Tejas with the weapon missile, the enemy aircraft will be targeted from a distance.
Big boost to indigenous defense sector
The successful test of weapon will also prove to be a milestone for India’s indigenous defense production. Many institutions like ADA, DRDO, HAL, Cemilac, DG-AQA and IAF contributed to this.
Steps towards self-sufficiency in Astra Air-to-air missile system
- There will be more tests of weapons missiles in the coming months, which will test its accuracy and reliability.
- It is also planned to include it in future fighter jets like LCA MK2 and AMCA (Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft).
- This will help India to become self-sufficient in the air-to-air missile system, which will reduce dependence on foreign weapons.
