Suryabala: Golden star of Indian literature, Suryabala honored with 34th Vyas Samman. News & Features Network

Famous writer of Hindi literature Suryabala Was awarded the 34th Vyas Samman for 2024. This honor was given to his novel “Who belongs to this country: Venu’s diary” Given for, which was published in 2018. KK Birla Foundation made the announcement, stating that he would be presented with a cash prize of Rs 4 lakh, a citation and a memento as honour.

Suryabala born in Varanasi
Born on 25 October 1943 in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, Suryabala received MA and PhD degrees in Hindi Literature from Banaras Hindu University. He has made extraordinary contribution to Hindi literature in the last four and a half decades. More than 50 books are written in his name, which include novels, stories, satire, biography, children’s literature and foreign memoirs.

His works have been translated not only into Indian languages, but also into many foreign languages. TV serials and telefilms based on his stories and novels took him to the peak of popularity.

KK Birla Foundation is a leading institution for the literary field in India. It presents two major literary awards every year—Saraswati Samman And Vyas SammanAn amount of Rs 15 lakh is given in Saraswati Samman, while Rs 4 lakh is given in Vyas Samman.

Vyas Samman is given to those works of Hindi literature which have been published in the last 10 years and which are considered excellent literary works. This honor is selected by a special committee. This year the chairman of the committee is Prof. Ramji Tiwari chose Suryabala’s novel for the honour.
