India won the T20 World Cup 2024 title by defeating South Africa in the final.
ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2024 was included in the top-5 of Google trending list. After Copa America and Euro Cup, people searched ICC tournaments the most. The Test series between India and England in January-February remained at number four in trending.
The 2024 T20 World Cup was played in America and West Indies during June. India won all the matches and won the title by defeating South Africa in the final. ICC Chairman Jay Shah also shared Google’s trending list on his social media handle. Which included T-20 World Cup and India-England series.
2 football tournaments remained on top Copa America Cup, the football tournament held between American countries, was the most searched this year. Argentina won the title by defeating Colombia 1-0 in the final of the tournament held in America.
Euro Cup, the football tournament held in European countries, remained at second place in Google trends. Spain won the title by defeating England 2-1 in the final. The tournament took place in Germany. Both the football tournaments were played in June-July and the finals of both were held on 15th July.

India won the T-20 World Cup after 17 years. T-20 World Cup remained at third place in top trending. India remained unbeaten in the tournament. The team made it to the finals by defeating big teams like Pakistan, Australia and England. The team defeated South Africa in the final and won the title after 17 years, the team had earlier won the first T20 World Cup in 2007.
No Indian in top-5 players search Algerian boxer Eman Khalif, who faced trolling due to gender controversy in the Olympics, was the most searched among the players. Boxer Mike Tyson was second and Jack Paul was fifth. In the search list, Spain’s young footballer Lamin Yamal was at third place and American gymnast Simone Biles was at fourth place.
