The part of the tunnel collapsed on 22 February. 11 agencies are engaged in rescue.
Srisalam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) under construction in Nagarkurnul, Telangana is the 9th day of the rescue operation of 8 laborers trapped in the tunnel. Rescue work has been going on since a part of the tunnel collapsed on 22 February.
The workers trapped in the last 9 days have not been contacted. There is a lot of problems in the rescue due to water, mud and lots of debris in the tunnel. The rescue operation has 11 agencies including Army, NDRD, SDRF.
Here, politics is also going on about the incident. BJP MLAs visited the tunnel. MLA Maheshwar Reddy said- This accident is the result of wrong management of existing and earlier governments. This disaster came due to negligence.
BJP MLA Payal Shankar said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is keeping an eye on the tunnel incident. All necessary assistance has been provided. We hope that eight people trapped inside will come out safely.
On Saturday, Telangana Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari, Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy and Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao visited the tunnel. After this, everyone had a meeting with the officials engaged in the rescue.
Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao said-
Efforts are on to save the workers. We are confident that by Sunday we will save four people, who have been identified. The ambulance has been deployed on the spot. Army medical teams are also present.

Family members of the trapped people said- no news inside
The uncle of Gurpreet Singh of Punjab, trapped inside the tunnel, told that today it has been 7 days. There is no news inside. The government is requested to tell quickly how long the government will take them out.
He said that our family members in the village are upset and are not eating food. We were wishing that going inside the tunnel and see what the situation is. I am not allowed inside. They are saying that the teams who are going in, will tell you what is happening inside.
Santosh Sahu, the family of Santosh Sahu of Jharkhand, said that on 22 February, it was received that my brother -in -law was trapped in the tunnel. It has been 7 days of the incident but we have not received any information whether they are right or not. We are hoping to sit when they should get out and take them home. The Telangana government is working.
The Telangana government is requested to take them out as soon as possible and take them home. Our Jharkhand government has also sent two officers here. These people are also helping us.

Scared laborers started quitting work According to reports, some laborers working in the tunnel after the accident have left the work due to fear. The senior government official said that 800 people are working in the Srisalam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) project. Of these, 300 are local and the rest are from Jharkhand, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh. The officer also said that there is definitely fear among laborers in the beginning. However, the company has set up residential camps for them. Some people may want to go back, but we have no report that all the workers are leaving together.
2 arrests, FIR on 2; Congress demand from PM- Create SIT
The Assam Police arrested Hanan Laskar and Punush Nunisa in connection with the mine accident. Kom Komarayi and Pitush Langthasa of Congress’s Dima Hasao Unit lodged an FIR against Debolal Gorlosa (CEM) Debolal Gorlosa and his wife Kanika Hojai, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council. It has demanded immediate arrest of Gorlosa and Hozai. It is claimed that both of them were getting illegal mining in the mine.
Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi wrote a letter to PM Modi regarding the mine accident and demanded to create a SIT to investigate the matter. Gaurav wrote- The victim families should get justice and it is our responsibility to ensure that such incidents do not happen in future.
