A part of the Srisalam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel in Nagarkurnul, Telangana collapsed on 22 February. During this time the conveyor belt present in the tunnel was also damaged. After 11 days, the teams engaged in the rescue have fixed it. Now 800 tonnes of debris can be extracted from the tunnel every hour.
8 laborers in the tunnel have not been contacted yet. Officials said that drilling is going on in the ground penetrating radar (GPR) where the people were reported to be. Debris is being removed and water is being drained. The GPR survey was conducted by Hyderabad -based National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI).
Representatives of the National Earthquake Science Center have also participated in the rescue operation. NDRF, SDRF, Army, South Central Railway, Rat Minors and other rescue agencies have been engaged in rescue since the incident.

800 people working in SLBC project, but many work ran away
According to reports, some laborers working in the tunnel after the accident have left the work due to fear. The senior government official said that 800 people are working in the Srisalam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) project. Of these, 300 are local and the rest are from Jharkhand, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh. The officer also said that there is definitely fear among laborers in the beginning. However, the company has set up residential camps for them. Some people may want to go back, but we have no report that all the workers are leaving together.
Family members of the trapped people said- no news inside
On March 1, the uncle of Gurpreet Singh of Punjab, trapped inside the tunnel, told that it had been between 7 days. There is no news inside. The government is requested to tell quickly how long the government will take them out.
He had said that our family members in the village are upset and are not eating food. We were wishing that going inside the tunnel and see what the situation is. I am not allowed inside. They are saying that the teams who are going in, will tell you what is happening inside.
The family of Santosh Sahu of Jharkhand had said that on February 22, it was reported that my brother -in -law was trapped in the tunnel. It has been 7 days of the incident but we have not received any information whether they are right or not. We are hoping to sit when they should get out and take them home. The Telangana government is working.
The Telangana government is requested to take them out as soon as possible and take them home. Our Jharkhand government has also sent two officers here. These people are also helping us.
