A part of the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel collapsed on 22 February.
More than 62 hours have passed for 8 employees in the world’s longest water tunnel being built in Nagarkurnul, 132 km from Hyderabad. The team of 584 people is engaged in rescue operation.
This includes experts from the Army, Navy, NDRF, SDRF, IIT Chennai and L&T company. But till now no contact has been made with the stranded employees.
After this, this work has now been assigned to 12 Rat Minors (laborers digging up like mice). It was he who took out 41 laborers stranded in Silakyara Tunnel of Uttarakhand in 2023.
A team of 6 Rat Minors arrived on Monday afternoon. The rest of 6 people will reach tomorrow (Wednesday). Right now this team will go inside and take stock of the situation.
The rescue will begin after the meeting of the Rat Minors team with NDRF and SDRF. Rescue can take longer due to water. There was not much problem due to drought debris in Silkyara tunnel.

The accident took place at around 8:30 am on 22 February. About 3 meters of the roof of the tunnel inside 13 km from the entry point of the tunnel had collapsed. During this time, about 60 people were working inside the tunnel.
52 people came out after saving their lives, but 8 employees running tunnel boring machines (TBM) got stuck inside. These include 2 engineers, 2 machine operators and 4 laborers.
