A team of more than 600 people is engaged in rescue to evacuate the laborers trapped in the tunnel.
A part of the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel under construction in Nagarkurnul, Telangana collapsed on 22 February. 6 days have passed since the incident. But 8 men trapped in the tunnel have not yet been removed. The rescue continues.
On Friday, 2 teams of South Central Railway (SCR) also arrived for rescue. The team is removing heavy metals from modern devices such as plasma cutters and brock cutting machines.
Scientists of the National Geofigical Research Institute (NGRI) have also reached the spot. With the help of ground penetrating radar (GPR), the laborers buried under the rubble are trying to find.
According to TOI report V, the possibility of any laborer to get alive is very low. SP Vaibhav Gaikwad, SP of Nagarkurranul, said that the work of removing debris and cutting of iron rods is continuously continuing.
From Thursday morning, the work of cleaning debris and taking out the tunnel water is going on. A team went to the tunnel at 7 am on Friday.
Apart from Army, NDRF, SDRF, around 600 personnel of other agencies of the state government are involved in the rescue operation. The team who evacuated people trapped in Silkyara Tunnel of Uttarakhand is also included in it.

Scared laborers started quitting work According to reports, some laborers working in the tunnel after the accident have left the work due to fear. The senior government official said that 800 people are working in the Srisalam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) project. Of these, 300 are local and the rest are from Jharkhand, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh. The officer also said that there is definitely fear among laborers in the beginning. However, the company has set up residential camps for them. Some people may want to go back, but we have no report that all the workers are leaving together.

The Assam Police arrested Hanan Laskar and Punush Nunisa in connection with the mine accident. Kom Komarayi and Pitush Langthasa of Congress’s Dima Hasao Unit lodged an FIR against Debolal Gorlosa (CEM) Debolal Gorlosa and his wife Kanika Hojai, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council. It has demanded immediate arrest of Gorlosa and Hozai. It is claimed that both of them were getting illegal mining in the mine.
Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi wrote a letter to PM Modi regarding the mine accident and demanded to create a SIT to investigate the matter. Gaurav wrote- The victim families should get justice and it is our responsibility to ensure that such incidents do not happen in future.
