Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) of Odisha is in a lot of controversies these days. After the suicide of a Nepali student in its hostel room, there was a lot of uproar in the campus. The matter increased further when KIIT was accused of forcibly exhaling a group of Nepali students from the campus. Its video also became quite viral, which became a topic of discussion from Odisha to Nepal.
In the viral video, a professor, who has been identified as Manjusha Pandey, was heard saying, “We are feeding and teaching more than 40,000 students for free.” Another female employee named Jayanti Nath was heard shouting at the students of Nepal, “This is equal to the budget of your country.”

If controversy over video increased, apologize
After the video went viral on social media, both of them have released the video to apologize on their comments. Manjusha Pandey said on the night of 16 February, “I want to tell that whatever statement I have made is mine and it has nothing to do with KIIT University. It suddenly got angry when the controversy escalated. If any of my statements have hurt the feelings of any of my Nepali students or the people of Nepal, then I apologize honestly for this.

Second Madam also apologized
Jayanti Nath, another employee seen in the video, also apologized and said, “My intention was not to hurt or humiliate anyone. If my words have unknowingly hurt someone’s feeling, I am deeply sorry. Kiit also apologized
KIIT has also issued a public statement and apologized. KIIT said that he has removed both his officers who made “very irresponsible” statements. However, the institute did not name the officers. A post on X said, “KIIT has always been a home for students around the world, which promotes the culture of inclusion, respect and care. All students confirm our commitment to the safety, respect and welfare of the students. “

2 people arrested, dead body
The Odisha police on Tuesday handed over the body of the Nepali student to her father after the post -mortem at AIIMS of Bhubaneswar. Also, this issue was raised in the assembly. The girl’s father Sunil Lamsal arrived here with his friends and was present during the post -mortem of the body. Sunil told that they are planning to take the body to Nepal. DCP Pinak Mishra of Bhubaneswar said, “Police have registered two cases, on the basis of a complaint received from a girl’s cousin, in connection with committing suicide by hanging and the other with social media videos, in which private university security personnel and Employees are seen misbehaving and beating the students protesting on the incident. ” The police have also arrested two security personnel named Ramakant Nayak (45) and Jogendra Behera (25). Officials claimed that these security personnel staged a sit -in and assaulted the students demanding justice for the girl.
High level investigation team formed
Meanwhile, the Odisha government took the matter seriously and formed a three -member high -level investigation team under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary (Home). Other members of the team are Secretary of Higher Education and Women and Child Development Department. Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj told reporters, “The institution has been kept under notice, and proper legal and administrative action will be taken based on the findings of the high level team.” He said that KIIT officials had not informed the state government about the death of the student and then action against the Nepali students. He claimed that about 100 Nepali students are in the campus, 800 have left for their homes.
Uproar from assembly to Nepal
Meanwhile, the issue also arose in the state assembly, where MLAs of all parties expressed concern over the incidents of the death of the student and then the students of the neighboring country being removed from the hostel. All the members admitted that the incidents in KIIT have tarnished the image of the state and should not be tolerated. On the one hand, the Congress demanded a judicial inquiry into the case related to the death of the student and the alleged atrocities on the students, while the BJP members demanded the arrest of KIIT founder Achuta Samant. Biju Janata Dal (BJD) said that this incident is the result of the deteriorating law and order situation in BJP-ruled Odisha. After this incident, protests started in Nepal as well, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli offered some relief to the affected students. Officials said that two officers of Nepal Embassy in Delhi can visit the institute.
Oli wrote on ‘Facebook’ on Monday, ‘It has been reported through media and social media that a Nepali student has died and Nepali students have been forcibly evacuated in the hostel of KIIT University in Odisha. The government is looking at the matter through diplomatic mediums and is in touch with the officials concerned.
