New Delhi:
The budget session of Parliament is being held on Friday. Earlier, the government organized an all -party meeting on Thursday. In this, the government presented the agenda of legislative work. The government has listed three other new draft laws along with the Waqf (Amendment) Bill to discuss and pass in the budget session. The government has sought the cooperation of the opposition in running the House in a smooth form. At the beginning of the session, President Draupadi Murmu will give the joint meeting of both the houses. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the budget on February 1. The first phase of the budget session will end on 13 February. The second phase of the budget session will start from March 10. The budget session will conclude on April 4. Like the winter session, the budget session is likely to be ruckus. The opposition will try to make a stampede on Wednesday in the ongoing Mahakumbh in Prayagraj as BJP’s failure in this session.
What happened in an all -party meeting
After the all -party meeting on Thursday, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the meeting was very creative. He said that 52 leaders of 36 parties attended the meeting. Raiziju said that the work advisory committee will decide on the demand of the opposition to discuss the stampede in Mahakumbh.
The government has listed three other new draft laws along with the Waqf (Amendment) Bill to discuss and pass in the budget session. The Joint Committee of Parliament (JPC), formed to review the amendment bill on Waqf, has submitted its report to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Thursday. The way has been cleared to introduce amendment on the bill brought last year. The three more bills in the budget session, in the ‘Protection of interest in aircraft goods’,’ Tribhuvan Cooperative University Bill ‘and’ Immigration and Foreign Bills are included. Apart from these, the Finance Bill, 2025 and related grants demands and appropriation bills have also been listed for the budget session. There are also 10 other bills which are pending in both houses since last session.
How different will the budget session of this time be
The BJP has been in power for three times. During this time this will be the first time that the government will present the budget and the BJP will not have a majority figure. In the Lok Sabha elections held last year, BJP won only 240 seats. After this, he formed the government for the third consecutive time with the help of JDU and TDP. Therefore, there is also pressure on the government to present a good budget, so that the image of PM Narendra Modi’s development is further strengthened.
Prior to this, the winter session of Parliament was very ruthless. Due to the uproar, there was no legislative functioning in the House for most days. The situation had reached here that some BJP MPs had accused Rahul Gandhi of pushing and demolishing. Regarding this, both sides had also filed a case against each other in the police. The dispute started after a statement by Home Minister Amit Shah given on Babasaheb Ambedkar.
Will the opposition India alliance be able to unite again
A good thing for the government can be that the opposition can be scattered in the budget session. In fact, the India alliance has been divided on the question of the leadership of the opposition India alliance. Parties like Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena, Lalu Yadav’s RJD, Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party, Sharad Pawar’s NCP have said that Congress should give up the leadership of this faction. Apart from the leadership of India alliance, the cracks created in the India alliance have also been widened in the Delhi Assembly elections. In the Delhi Assembly elections, parties like Trinamool Congress, NCP and SP have supported the Aam Aadmi Party. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav also did a road show in Burari area of Delhi on Thursday.
In the budget session, the opposition will try to present the stampede incident in Kumbh on Wednesday and present it as the failure of the BJP government. Apart from this, the opposition will try to rejuvenate Ambedkar’s insult in view of the Delhi elections. Apart from this, the opposition can also raise the issue of unemployment and inflation.
Election states have an impact on budget?
The government will try to please the public with the budget. Because assembly elections are to be held in many major states in 2025-26. This year, assembly elections are to be held in Bihar and states like Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Pundicherry next year. Of these, BJP has an absolute majority government in Assam and he is a partner in the Bihar government. At the same time, Bengal and Tamil Nadu are trying to set foot. In such a situation, it is expected that the impact of these elections should also be seen in the budget.
