The church where 3000 Hindus convert every month will be bulldozed: Andhra Pradesh government’s decision regarding Asia’s second largest church.

The Minority Welfare Department of Andhra Pradesh has issued orders for the demolition of Calvary Temple Church located in Guntur district. This church is located in Namburu village of Pedakakani mandal. This church was being operated illegally. This was revealed after an investigation. According to preliminary information, only those structures which are running without legal permission will be demolished.

In fact, in November 2024, a complaint was given against this church to the Prime Minister’s Office. The complaint alleged that it was being operated without legal permission from government departments like Panchayati Raj, Revenue, Police and Noise Pollution Control Board. It was also said that Pastor Dr. Satish Kumar looted people through donations without paying taxes.

Following the complaint, investigation found that the church was operating illegally and was converting Hindus to Christianity by giving groceries to the poor and making fake claims. In October it was reported that Calvary Church, led by Hyderabad-based pastor Dr Satish Kumar, had converted about 3,000 Hindus to Christianity every month.

Pastor Satish Kumar specifically claimed that he has donated more than 3.5 lakh rupees so far. Hindus converted to Christianity Have done. Satish Kumar had revealed plans to establish 40 such churches across India in the next 10 years. A video by CBN News (The Christian Broadcasting Network Inc.) went viral on social media platform X on October 26, 2024.

This video talked about the proselytizing activities of Calvary Temple Church. Later on 28 October 2024, Legal Rights Protection Forum (LRPF) shared on on the church land grab, There are several allegations, including violation of law and building new churches through dubious agreements.

Calvary Temple Church is one of the largest churches in Asia, with more than 4 lakh members. At the same time, the weekly attendance is more than 20,000. Apart from the church, Satish Kumar’s organization runs Calvary Bible College, Calvary Hospital and Calvary School. Pastor Satish Kumar is considered to have great influence in every field from politics in Andhra Pradesh and beyond.

Along with this, Satish Kumar also has a strong reach in the national and international Christian communities. He often travels to different countries including America, South Africa, Korea for missionary activities. The then Vice President of America Mike Pence had shared pictures of his meeting with Satish Kumar on the social media site X in the year 2018 and had described the meeting as inspiring.

All this seems to be a strategy to raise funds to target Hindus. Calvary Church also claims that the church was constructed in only 52 days.

When considering initiatives like Calvary Bible College and Calvary Hospital, as well as the free meals provided, it appears to be less about philanthropy and more about religious empire building. Pastor Satish Kumar has become infamous due to his many activities. However, Christians consider their activities a great service to the community.
