The war of words between Congress and BJP continues during the demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and the immersion of his ashes. Dr. Singh’s ashes were immersed in the Yamuna river on Sunday (29 December 2024), but no big Congress leader or member of the Gandhi family was present on this occasion. BJP has raised questions on this, cornering Congress.
BJP launched a scathing attack on Congress regarding this entire issue. Accusing the Congress of doing politics, the party said that the absence of the Gandhi family and senior Congress leaders raises questions. BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya also targeted Rahul Gandhi by tweeting. He wrote, “When the country was mourning the demise of Dr. Manmohan Singh, Rahul Gandhi was celebrating the New Year in Vietnam. The Gandhi family has always behaved disrespectfully towards the Sikh community.”

Congress gave this clarification
After criticizing BJP, Congress Cleaning Gave. Congress leader Pawan Kheda said that the party maintained distance from the immersion of ashes while respecting the privacy of the family. He told that Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had met the family at their residence after the funeral.
Kheda said, “The family did not get a chance for privacy during the cremation. Some members could not reach the funeral pyre. In such a situation, it was considered appropriate to give privacy to the family during the immersion of ashes. The ritual was emotionally difficult and painful for him.”
