The entire Sambhal city was declared as Waqf property, Kotwali-Post Office and Kalki Temple were also claimed: Waqfnama turned out to be fake, police said – will now file a case

After the construction of a police post in front of the disputed Jama Masjid in Sambhal, the entire city has been declared as Waqf property. A 4 kilometer area of Sambhal has been claimed to be Waqf property in a fake Waqf deed. Some Muslims had also given some papers to the district administration regarding this. Now preparations are being made to take action against those who have made the claim. The district administration of Sambhal has now said that many Waqf properties will be investigated and a case will also be registered.

What did the Muslims claim?

A delegation of Muslims in Sambhal has declared the area within 4 km boundary of Jama Masjid as Waqf property. He claimed that in 1929, a man named Abdul Samad had given all this property to Waqf to build a madrasa. The police post built in front of the disputed Jama Masjid in Sambhal, the city police station and even the Kalki temple have been declared Waqf property. In this regard, the Muslim delegation has handed over some papers to Sambhal district DM Rajendra Pansia and SP Krishna Kumar Bishnoi.

What did DM-SP tell?

Both the officials held a press conference in this regard on Thursday (January 2, 2025) and told the truth of these claims. Sambhal district DM Rajendra Pansia said, “A delegation met us and handed over some papers regarding the Satyavrat Chowki being built in front of the disputed shrine in Sambhal district. He had said that the 4 kilometer area around the disputed religious place is Waqf… An unregistered Waqfnama executed by Mohammad Abdul Samad on August 23, 1929 has come to light. It mentions properties from number 1 to number 20.”

DM Pancia further said, “A 3-member committee was formed regarding this claim. SDM, CO and EO have investigated this. But till now no one has presented us any claim of ownership over these lands. Apart from this, after checking the properties mentioned in this deed, no evidence of any person living in them or any record was found. The third thing is that the land at a distance of 4 kilometers between two villages has been declared as Waqf, it is unregistered and neither does it have any owner. “No ownership rights have been given in it.”

After this, DM Pancia raised questions regarding the claim regarding the land being Waqf. He said that in the alleged Waqf deed, thousands of bighas of land in Sambhal district was given to Waqf and it was said that it was for the construction of Madrasa. He asked the question whether thousands of bighas of land is given for building a Madrasa, apart from this there is no mention in this document as to where the Madrasa has been built or will be built. DM said that in this deed, everything including Kalki temple, police posts, post office, police station and Kalki temple has been claimed.

The claims seem fake

DM Sambhal Rajendra Pansia has said that even if these properties are considered as Waqf, then how are they being bought and sold verbally. He said that on the basis of investigation, the claims made on the properties and the documents attached in the waqfnama appear to be fake. Now we will take further legal action in this matter. SP Krishna Bishnoi has said that on the basis of the document given, even the Kotwali of Sambhal waqf Is property. He has said that now all Waqf properties will be investigated and wherever fraud is found, a case will be filed in that case.

Sambhal SP has said that now a case will be registered on fraud in this Vaqfnama case and people will be made accused on the basis of investigation. He said that if there is illegal buying and selling of Waqf properties in Sambhal, then action will be taken against that also. He has said that cases will be registered in this matter also.
