‘The incident that happened in Mahakumbh is a matter of unfortunate and concern’: Supreme Court asked to go to High Court

The Supreme Court has refused to hear a petition filed in the case of stampede deaths in Prayagraj Mahakumbh and asked the petitioner to go to the Allahabad High Court. A bench of Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar noted the plea of ​​the Uttar Pradesh government that a petition has already been filed in the Allahabad High Court on the matter and the current petition should not be heard in the apex court. Describing the stampede as a “unfortunate incident”, the apex court asked the petitioner and advocate Vishal Tiwari to move to the Allahabad High Court.

This petition was filed on behalf of advocate Vishal Tiwari. The PIL has demanded a status report on the stampede at Prayagraj Mahakumbh and action against the officials responsible for it.

Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for the Uttar Pradesh government, told the bench of the apex court that the judicial commission has been formed to investigate the case. As a result, a petition has also been filed in the Allahabad High Court. Taking this on record, the Supreme Court said that the petitioners can go to the High Court in this case.

‘Action should be taken against those responsible’

In the petition, the Center and all the states have been made parties. In this, the central and state governments have been requested to instruct to work collectively. So that a safe environment can be ensured for the devotees in Mahakumbh. The petition said that this petition has been filed under Article 32 of the Constitution of India, which has been requested to give guidelines to the state governments to prevent stampede incidents in Mahakumbh. The petitioner has urged the apex court to direct the Uttar Pradesh government to present the status report on the stampede incident and take legal action against those responsible for negligence.

‘VIP movement should be limited’

In the petition, all the states have demanded the opening of a facility center in the Kumbh Mela area. So that non -Hindi speaking people get the facility. It has also been demanded in the petition that VIP movement should be limited in such events. More and more space should be kept for the common man. The petition has demanded that the states be informed by the states on mobile, mobile, WhatsApp to avoid stampede in large religious events and to give correct information to the people.

Let me tell you that at least 30 people were killed and 60 others were injured in a stampede in the Sangam area during the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj on January 29.
